Canada's Truck Convoy to Protest Mandate

The conversation about the negative economic impact of the BLM protests and compared to the truckers' protest.
Try to keep up.

The truckers' protest has been far more damaging to the economy....but who really cares about lost wages, right?
You're wrong as usual, volinbham was discussing loss of life, injury, and property damage. You just deflected off the subject towards economics to push your ignorant liberal agenda because you knew he was right.

Radicals concerned with the economy whilst the inflation wildfire is burning and supply chain issues...

It's you that is wrong........as usual.
Go back and look.
Volinbham was responding to my post where I said the trucker protestors were no more white supremacists than the BLM protestors were violent rioters.

The overall economic impact (secondary and tertiary) of the Canadian Trucker protests will be significant.

It’s been interesting watching the recognition of that, and reaction to that, unfold in real time.

Agreed. Any of these issues that divide people are interesting to observe in a relatively unbiased nature just to see all the intended/unintended consequences that cascade.

For me one of the interesting things is how some protests are "approved" by those in power (BLM for example) and others are not (the topic of this thread). In the former, all the government rules for dealing with Covid and any number of illegal activities were excused by those in power and considered to be irrelevant. In this case, the powerful are reacting in the opposite manner; attacking and demonizing the protestors to start then moving to more extreme exercises of power.

A logical conclusion to me is that those in power aren't in favor of protest. They only support protest that supports their power.

It still amazes me that more people (on the right) did not see this type of action coming. These are mostly the same people that laugh and cheer when other countries are "sanctioned", yet were too shortsighted to see that this same financial tool weapon would be used on them individually.

It has certainly been an interesting series of sagas.

And yes it has been another display of power dynamics. What is it. Who has it.

I don’t think the Government cares about who supports their power and who doesn’t.
I think they care a great deal about others that wield power.

Yep. Just leave the towns and go park'em at your house. The bigger cities supplies would start to crumble in 3 days.

Same for this one in the US. No use going in to these cities and have them try false flags, starving children, or stealing the gas to their parents truck.
I’ve seen several people making this point and it’s valid. But I’m not sure people are thinking about the visual aspect. If the government doesn’t have a visual inconvenience due to their actions, they’ll never let up and it would only result in the hiring of younger truck drivers to take the experienced place. Which would also lead to more traffic accidents involving 18 wheelers around the nation. They are already there. If they leave now, it taints the entire effort, frees up the roads and life goes on as usual. If they stay and more keep joining the effort, they create a major inconvenience to the city only promoting the government to act more quickly. As it sits right now, the governments only choices are 1) lift the mandates or 2) watch this thing grow like a cancer and spread throughout the world country by country.
