Canada's Truck Convoy to Protest Mandate

This is specifically about Canada.

The attitude and support shown by the government is night and day. From the get go they were labelled domestic terrorists and white supremacists by Trudeau and virtually all high ranking government officials. If you don't see the difference in attitude/treatment it's wilfull and there's nothing really left to say.
I saw plenty of politicians on the right in the US attack the BLM protests. Look at how right wing media covered the BLM protests.
The right treated the BLM protests like Canada is treating the truckers protest.

Canadian banks will receive the names of people involved in “Freedom Convoy” protests that have descended on the nation’s capital, a first step in a promised financial crackdown on demonstrators being instituted by the far-left government of Justin Trudeau.

Bloomberg reports the Canadian Bankers Association confirmed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has alerted banks to a list of names and made it available.

Under the Emergencies Act invoked by this week by Trudeau, law enforcement officials have the ability to arrest people for obstruction of roadways and disruptive behaviour within a no-go exclusion zone. They also have the power to seize vehicles and freeze the same bank accounts.

I think this overreach ends horribly for him. I fear they are about to see what happens when you back a segment of people into a corner and give them nothing more to lose.

They labeled them domestic terrorists, now it appears they have decided to turn them into the real deal.

This is about Canada, what politicians in the US say or do has zero bearing on what happens there.

What I heard most people/politicians here lamenting was the violence/rioting. They also condemned the obvious grift that BLM was. And based on the the early returns in looking into it's funding it appears they were at least partially correct.

lol.......I can guarantee you that no one enjoys what you have to say as much as you do.
You are so fixated on your response that you are clueless about that to which you are responding.
I'm the one showing the similarities between BLM protests and the truckers protests.
The clueless fence sitters are the ones who view one as substantially different or more justifiable than the other. (which would be most every poster in this thread)

And you're being dishonest or inattentive; I replied to your BLM analogy twice. In this post, I responded to your question re: "harm" and statement that Trudeau has been wrong on this but you can't seem to find your voice in how that wrong should be confronted. Except demonstrating in a field.

I'm on point; you're welcome to join me.

U.S. consumers need to stage a boycott of Canadian goods, tourism, and financial services.

All Trudeau had to really do was listen, consider there was some sound reasoning behind at the very least some of their demands and find common ground.

Instead he went full on authoritarian dictator and drove a further wedge in a largely strong country. Based on what I gathered from the news blurbs and my friend who works in the oil fields near Lac LaBiche he has really created a disconnect between the elitists and the blue collar outside of the cities. He wonders how much uglier it gets.

Did he even meet with them?

Did he even meet with them?

No. Allegedly he had a touch of C19, likely from not following his own mandates, and 'self-isolated' outside the province while the convoy was en route.

Besides, how do you meet with someone you called racists and Nazis? And then resort to fascism using federal force against them, just as our president requested?

To my knowledge no, he ran like a petulant child afraid to look the people he bullies in the eye.
You would think in a democracy they would at least meet to discuss peaceful return to normalcy. The fact that the nations leader didnt even take that small step is pretty indicative.

Ah yes, the right to peaceful protest that doesn't inconvenience anyone. That's how things really get done!
How about they protest where they inconvenience the folks who make the rules with which they disagree? Preventing folks (many if not most who agree with them) from using public roads doesn’t seem like the best solution to me. JMO

Leverage. Who cares if trucks rattle politicians' homes. Most government buildings are center city and encircling would have the same effect as now. Stopping truck commerce will have the effect in short order of no one having goods to sell and no one having jobs to go to anyway. Isn't this warning shot preferable? I think so.

And logistics. Convoys of thousands or 10/1000s of trucks are simply going to snarl roads wherever they go.
It’s not preferable to me, but I may be in the minority. JMO

Because BLM is a Marxist organization using black Americans as a human shield for an anti-American, anti-republic/capitalist agenda. And what sane American doesn't have a beef with the assertion that cops are hunting black people, police should be abolished, and this is a white supremacist society?

As this was being pointed out by "right wing media", the left yelled "Nazis...Racists!" just as Trudeau as done. As the left always does because they cannot defend arguments. Are you understanding what is NOT analogous between the two, yet? The criticism wasn't remotely the same treatment.
