I'm about to make a bold statement. I've done absolutely no research to support it, and yet I beg any and all of you to dispute its validity.
I rest my head a little less than a half mile away from the Roosevelt Bridge -- which, for those unfamiliar, passes over the Potomac River -- taking you from the Commonwealth of Virginia into the District of Columbia. The District itself is quite small geographically. More than a third of the originally planned District (a square with 10 mile sides) was given back to the Commonwealth in 1847, leaving our Nation's Capital with a mere 62 sq. miles of land (a decent chunk of which is Rock Creek Park).
AND YET.....I would bet everything I own -- yes, even my last box of gold bond powder -- that there are at least five high school basketball teams in that tiny little district just over the river there that would sweep this year's Lady Huskies in a 7 game series. 4-0. Sweep.
Dispute as you see fit. (It's actually not that bold of a statement, though).
