Career change/advice

Little terriers nipping at heels, giggling as they attempt to impress one another ….in the 'real world' most of wouldn't have the fortitude to look me in the eyes even to say hello....how old are you people anyway....

Did you accidentally post this in the wrong thread?

No, not hammered....but I'm recently retired and accustom to getting up early...one of my rituals used to be to stop at a Waffle House that was open at 4am when I went in to work...I'd get a cup of coffee and have fun watching and listening to the regulars.....some of you are more than an adequate substitute for that activity...seriously some of you put those guys to shame.. and I don't have to leave the house...

Last week I was offered a job with about a 125k salary plus perks but it would require moving to north Illinois. My current job psys about 110 to 115 but it is as a private contractor versus the job in Illinois more permanent. .... what you say volnation

not, Illinois taxes will eat you up..
my property taxes in Illinois, we're 14,000 a year
so your disposable income isn't going to increase and the weather sucks

I'd pass. Northern Ill has pretty high cost of living assuming its near Chicago. Also, the financial situation of the state of Illinois is bad. I've always felt that you should look for a 20-30% increase in salary when moving to a position.

Any advice for a nursing student? Once I graduate I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner and then going into anesthesia.

Back at cha brother.

My advice would be to do all that.

Thanks. Currently working through college as a surgical tech. I've enjoyed the surgical atmosphere and will probably work as an RN first assist while working on my nurse practitioner.

This stuff is kinda fun but I confess I'm at a loss on some of the finer points on how to properly play....maybe someone can give me a hand.....

I think I get the part where someone lists a vocation or makes a statement of 'supposed fact', IE 'I make 120K large' in mock seriousness, AKA satire, with a straight face.....now are we supposed to discus as if its true, kind of like a 'parlor game' or are we supposed from obscure and nuanced clues guess what they really do....you know like the 'attorney guy', I think he probably works for a convenient store, like a 7-11....maybe, just maybe the front end but doubtful....and the ' Any advice for a nursing student? Once I graduate I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner and then going into anesthesia' one is killer....I suggest you become a cowboy or a race car driver....

Kinda off track but who in here has a 'real job'...I don't...

I realize I could be way off base but I do so want to fit in...any recommendations would be appreciated....
