Carroll v. Trump ($88 million judgment for Carroll)

We can only hope that most of this is reversed upon appeal to end this fantasy.

E. Jean Carroll jokes about going on shopping spree with Rachel Maddow with 'Trump's money'

E. Jean Carroll joked with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow about going on a luxury shopping spree after winning $83 million in her defamation suit against former President Trump.

He'll be once again dunning his clod base for money so that he can pay off this new debt. Maybe a new set of gangster cards for sale?

We don't know about their past relationship because he or the prosecutor did not bring it up as they should have. The onus is not on the defense to identify potential conflict of interests. The judge should have raised the issue from the start, discussed it with both parties, and explained why he is not recusing himself.

Yep, as expected, Habba didn't have a case with her "ethical complaint"...

Who are We? I actually feel sorry for those who would be hoping for an appeal. That it might be important to some people is somewhat disturbing

I feel sorry that you feel sorry.

A 70 something year old gets let go from her job. They blame the guy that she accused of sexual assault and award a 70 something year old relationship journalist 80 plus million dollars to a past her prime writer in a time where many are getting laid off. Carroll does not strike me as a relationship expert.

Sorry that you want to give someone else's hard earned money to someone else based on ridiculous claims. This seems to go with your philosophy based on your posts.

These excessive damage rewards eventually hurt us all.

Trump did not present a competent defense and the jury found him civilly liable of sexual assault. He clearly defamed her. Yes, there is some sort of restitution that he should owe her.

But 83 million ain't it....

IDC about this particular case. I'm simply agreeing that the damages awarded were excessive and when juries/courts award these outrageous amounts it ends up hurting us all.

Habba Dabba Doo is out. Her 15 minutes are over. Back to fighting parking tickets for her. Your regular reminder that everything Trump touches dies.

Not a dadgum thing he stated in his "Truth" is the truth....

In the May trial, Trump's team missed discovery deadlines to include DNA evidence, Carroll's tweets, etc.

In the May trial, Trump's team chose not to raise a defense

In the May trial, Trump chose not to get on the stand

In the May trial, Trump's team couldn't get an expert qualified

Edit - Kaplan was appointed by Clinton. That part was true.

LMAO. Funny, but actually a pretty accurate summary of the qualifications Trump is looking for

Hollywood star Barbra Streisand has officially joined the left’s E. Jean Carroll victory parade, praising the feminist writer as “brave” after a New York court ruled in her favor in her defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump.

Barbra Streisand — who is one of Joe Biden’s biggest Hollywood backers — gushed over E. Jean Carroll in an X post on Wednesday.

E. Jean Carroll Celebrates $83 million legal win over Donald Trump at downtown NYC Bar with Media Types from MSNBC, Rolling Stone

E. Jean Carroll was spotted toasting her legal victory against Donald Trump — and her historic $83 million win — at a hip Lower East Side bar, Flower Shop, this week during a media party hosted by MSBNC journalist Molly Jong-Fast and Rolling Stone editor-in-chief Noah Shachtman.

Also at the downtown NYC party were MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, “Studio 360” host Kurt Andersen, former “SNL” producer Marci Klein, Puck columnist Tara Palmeri, New York Times opinion writer Lydia Polgreen and Washington Post scribe Sarah Ellison.

The party was a media gathering — but we hear Carroll was the star of bash with guests gathering around to snap selfies and laud her as an “icon.”

A who' who's list of leftist media were in attendance. This whole thing is a farce.

This is from far left wing news site Mediaite. Even the writer slant in the article couldn't deny it. The whole thing is a farce.

Rachel Maddow’s Schadenfreudtastic E. Jean Carroll Interview Undoubtedly Helped Trump

Rachel Maddow's Schadenfreudtastic E. Jean Carroll Interview Undoubtably Helped Trump

There are good reasons why MSNBC pays Rachel Madow $30 million per year to host one show a week; none are more important than the vast size of her loyal audience and her ability to feed them precisely what they tune in for.

This was on full display Monday evening when Maddow interviewed E. Jean Carroll in her first prime time cable news appearance since she defeated former President Donald Trump in a second defamation trial. The jury, which found that Trump continued to defame Carroll after a previous jury found him liable for sexually assaulting her, awarded her a staggering $83.3 million.

In an introductory monologue, Maddow fittingly set the stage for her guest, recalling her as a pioneering voice for women’s rights.

Yet what could have been a dispassionate and sober discussion of how the presumptive GOP nominee for president was adjudged to be a rapist and undisciplined defamer of his victim instead turned into a laugh-riot joke session that only lacked high-fives because the participants were not in the same studio. And the s**t-eating grins on display undermined much of the news value of the interview and only supported Trump’s aggrieved victimization racket, which is total bull----, but why feed the troll?

The schadenfreudtastic interview was just what TRMS viewers tuned in for. But given the current clip and comment infotainment media landscape, the laughter and joking were viewed by many in a critical way. Critics, you will not be shocked to learn, even veered into conspiracy theories. One could feel the political ad being cut in real time as we watched Carroll jokingly suggest that she would use Trump’s money to buy Maddow a penthouse.

It was the latest example of the current cable news landscape, which has become a confirmation bias theater. MSNBC viewers tune in for the celebration — the jokes, the high fives, and the schadenfreude — but everyone who isn’t an MSNBC super-fan will come away with an uneasy feeling about how the story was handled.
