This release is a Nunesburger but still the DOJ and the pro trump activists have put great emphasis on Carter Page. Why? IDK but it's interesting and mysterious still yet.
Or am I wrong and the likes of Nunes droped this a few months back.
You still in denial about how FISA warrants work?
They only needed a FISA warrant on anyone in the Trump campaign or organization to spy retroactively on everyone within 2 hops of the person named in the warrant.
Retroactively. That means in the past.
This type of warrant would provide significant cover if illegal spying on the Trump campaign had already taken place.
If you can tell me which criteria for a FISA warrant that was not meet we can talk.
Known as Woods procedures after Michael J. Woods, the FBI Special Agent attorney who developed this layer of approval, DOJ verifies the accuracy of every fact stated in the application. If anything looks unsubstantiated, the application is sent back to the FBI to provide additional evidentiary support
The Steele dossier was included in the initial FISA warrant application and all 3 extensions.
The investigators are responsible to verify all evidence presented before a FISA court.
The FISA court does not question the veracity of the evidence provided in a FISA warrant application.
By James Comey's own testimony the Steele dossier was "salacious and unverified".
What is confusing here?
FISA courts are not intended to allow for spying on American citizens. FISA was supposed to allow for spying on terrorists.
Why are you ok with this?
It just had to be corroborated, Not "verified". Get it straight.
The FISA application then travels to the Justice Department where attorneys from the National Security Division comb through the application to verify all the assertions made in it. Known as Woods procedures after Michael J. Woods, the FBI Special Agent attorney who developed this layer of approval, DOJ verifies the accuracy of every fact stated in the application. If anything looks unsubstantiated, the application is sent back to the FBI to provide additional evidentiary support this game of bureaucratic chutes and ladders continues until DOJ is satisfied that the facts in the FISA application can both be corroborated and meet the legal standards for the court. After getting sign-off from a senior DOJ official (finally!), a lawyer from DOJ takes the FISA application before the FISC, comprised of eleven federal district judges who sit on the court on a rotating basis. The FISC reviews the application in secret, and decides whether to approve the warrant.
They relied on the bogus dossier to go after Page. Surprised Carlos posted this. Doesnt look so good for this witch hunt
