Actually, it makes the FBI and the Intel agencies look pretty good and Nunes and company look like idiots. It absolutely destroys Nunes's claim that the FBI hid this information from the FISC. Nunes claimed that FBI was using Michael Isikoffs Yahoo News article as independent confirmation of Steeles intel when they weren't, they used it as a source for Pages denials when he said he wasn't working for Russia. The FISA FOIA release makes clear beyond any serious doubt that the Nunes memo was amazing dishonest. And let's not forget that the FISA warrant was reauthorized 3 more times using evidence that was independent of the Steele dossier. In order for the FISA warrant to be renewed the renewal must contain intel and evidence collected in the 90 days before it is taken before the FISA Court.
The information is garbage.
That is the scandal. They provided phony evidence to a FISA judge.
Steele was an open source and the FBI and Intel community used other sources to verify or collaborate Steeles Dossier and even used interviews with Page to collaborate the intel.
I was right. Verified. Not corroborated.

The Nunes memo accused the FBI of dishonesty in failing to disclose information about Steele, but in fact the Nunes memo itself was dishonest in failing to disclose what the FBI disclosed. I said then, and I still believe, that the Nunes memo was dishonest. And if it is allowed to stand, we risk significant collateral damage to essential elements of our democracy.
But it is worth noting thatand as the Democrats previously pointed outthe judges who signed off on these four FISA applications were all appointed by Republican presidents, including one George H.W. Bush appointee (Anne Conway), two George W. Bush appointees (Rosemary Collyer and Michael Mosman) and one Reagan appointee (Raymond Dearie). I know some of those judges, and they certainly are not the types to let partisan politics affect their legal judgments.
Michael Isikoff of Yahoo news met with Steele to write articles on this.

Isikoff's article was included as evidence in the FISA application.
