CBJ and his interviews????

Is it the Verbiage difference or scripted???? Neither is bad ....

He sticks pretty strictly to a set of bullet points on camera or on the air. People have noticed it to the point where there's now a Butch Bingo game for certain Butchisms ("the standard and the expectation", "individuals", "power of one", "we have the best fans in the country", "one-oh-two-four-five-five", so on and so forth). He knows about it, too, but I doubt it phases him. That's standard PR practice 101, so in that sense I would say it is scripted to an extent.

Now when he talks to his players, students, or any other group, it's a totally different story - but he's definitely not the only coach that speaks to the media differently than he does his players or whoever.

My perception of the images other UT coaches tried to sell:

Dooley: I'm the smartest guy in the room. In fact, I'm better than all you guys. I might not have much success yet, but I'm going to outsmart you on "the process"

Kiffin: I'm the s**t! I'm flashy. I'm west coast and can sell this trashy rural program to the elite. Look at the staff around me!! Look at my wife!! You know you all want to be me.

Fulmer: I'm a good ole TN boy. I fit in around here like the old wallpaper. I'm trustworthy. Your kids are in good hands. We put in an honest days work for an honest days pay. We carry lunch buckets to the office. (Fulmer worked well...he just got a bit complacent and felt accepted as if the job was now his right)

Just dc_vol's opinion.

I have met Fulmer and spoke to his team... Fulmer was a winner .. We can talk about Fulmer being complacent but he would of never had UTs record the last 6 years.

I totally agree... I didn't want to make this a negative post because i'm a fan of another team. I have been around the UT program more than my own team...

When you hear CBJ speak does he sound like an everyday coach or an Ivy league coach???

I know he must communicate good with the kids because he is a good recruiter. He's interview seem to be a little different than most coaches because of the verbiage that he uses.

Might be a little nitpick but what are y'all thoughts... ?? Yes, I did used Y'all... :)

Have no idea what you might possibly be getting at. When you speak, do you sound like something that makes sense or an do you like turtles?

He reads a lot of motivational books and books by/about successful people and former coaches and picks up much

of the things he says naturally from those. That's why it always has a positive slant. His focus is always forward

and up.

I find it pretty hard to believe that Fulmer let a Florida Gator fan living in Knoxville speak to his team.

Fade: Muschamp tries very hard to convince people that he's just super passionate and intense because he wants to win so bad when in reality he looks like clown and a dope.

DC Vol: Hopefully his style includes winning. Not shower discipline. Not the USC of the East. Not waiting to review the film and then working like heck…..

DC Vol: The difference to me it seems he uses it as an opportunity to motivate his players to get better without crushing them in public…..

DC Vol: Dooley: I'm the smartest guy in the room. In fact, I'm better than all you guys….
I give you guys a “thumbs up” on these comments. I knew Dooley wasn’t going to win when he chose to attack his player4s in the media. He was a huge de-motivator.

Today’s young athletes aren’t motivated this way. A successful head coach is: (1) a Motivator (2) Coach (3) One who recognizes talent and mentality to win. There’s a huge difference in today’s program. We finally have a leader.

I guess you don't watch many coaches interview or been in a locker room... Carry on. Not being negative... Just opening it for conversation and many UT fans have explained the method... No turtles.

I'm not comparing him to Muschamp or any other coach in the SEC... Over look the username. His interviews are different. I'm not bragging but if you have been in over 40 UT games for free or have give speeches to the team... I have and grew up in FL.... :). Just an opinion.

I am so tired of seeing this absolute non-sense posted every time CPF is brought into any discussion.

Where did he get complacent? The year before he was fired we had the number 3 class in the nation.. he signed 5.. count them 5.. 5 star players.. do you get recruiting classes like that through complacence?

Or was it on the field.. where the year before he was fired we were playing for the SEC championship?

I swear to god my IQ drops a point every time I am forced to read that absolute idiotic comment everyone spits out trying to justify his firing.. when we ALL know deep down.. no matter how bad you don't want it to be true..

That it was a HUGE mistake...

Or do you actually think the past 6 years..becoming the laughing stock of CFB.. is better then 2 losing seasons in a 16 year career... a NC.. and 6 times winner of the SEC east? and averaging 10 wins a season.

Now go ahead and start flaming away... show how far the retardation actually goes around here.

This.... Look at Fulmers overall record vs UTs last 5 years. Fulmer was a straight shooter and it didn't matter who you were. He even asked me the hard questions... :)

Dude you're so fos. You are the same troll who showed a complete lack of football knowledge in another thread by trying to argue that since Marlin lane was "2nd string ", all his yards and experience came against weak competition in garbage time when games were out of hand.
You don't even understand the concept of rbs splitting carries, but now you want everyone to believe Fulmer had the gators fan speaking to the team and being constantly around.
Ahh, the internet. Where you can be whoever you want to be. Pathetic.

Neal. Took the important carries.. He did break a 1,000 yards for a reason and took twice as many carriers... Troll on.

When you can show when Lane took the carries at what point in the ball games. We can talk.

His language includes some coachisms but mostly he sounds like a guy who just can't wait for the next thing to happen. Kind of a positive, impatient guy... like he's so much looking forward to the next moment that he can't wait.
