CBJ and his interviews????

With all due respect, you still haven't answered the original question. In requesting our opinions on this topic, you have not articulated with any degree of specificity what elements of Butch's oratorical style you consider to be "different." Would you be so kind as to outline those features by which you are particularly struck?

He seems scripted and uses cliches. Nothing wrong with it but its a careful way to do an interview instead of emotions and off the cuff. That's why we are debating this.

OK, now we're getting somewhere. I don't believe that anyone here would seriously disagree with those two observations. As a matter of fine distinction, I would say that Butch utilizes slogans more so than clichés, simply because many of his pet phrases are not so widely used as to fall into the category of what we typically consider to be clichés. If you want more off-the-cuff material from Butch, listen to the way that he critiques players in open-mike practices.

What ever... Coaches have to interview and all have a style.

I'm not particularly pointing to your original post. The one that you felt the need to use 6 question marks and then make an extremely vague remark about his interview style. I think it's more the "I spoke to the team" and "Fulmer asked me the hard questions" part. I've seen some alcohol fueled posts in my day. Even participated in a few myself. This one reaks of liquor.

I have met Fulmer and spoke to his team... Fulmer was a winner .. We can talk about Fulmer being complacent but he would of never had UTs record the last 6 years.

No question Fulmer was a winner. Also no question he got complacent.

But still unsure why you think that has anything to do with his media persona. They all try to look like winners in front of the camera. It's their job.

I liked Fulmer a lot. I'd also love to go out for a night on the town with Kiffin. The purpose of your post seems off the topic you brought up...maybe just to let everyone know you met him and spoke to the team? Not sure...you can explain.

Well don't let Kiffin drive. He is prone to cleaning out ditches I hear.

Nope... All the truth. I know its hard to believe that I'm not a Vol fan and hung out with the team. Also not may places in Neyland Stadium I haven't been. If this makes you mad or can't understand. I don't have to explain.

Nope... Nothing to do with Fulmer... We are talking about CBJ style with the media. You guys seem to take every angle but can't stick to the subject of the post.

Not mad. Just don't believe you. And that's every bit my right. Not sure why it would bother you that I don't if it were true. And with your other argument about Lane never getting important carries. He had 4 consecutive carries to the 2 yard line that set up the winning FG against SC last year. Those were pretty important.

What ever... Ride that boat. There are 1000 of vol fans on here and one of me and you are the only one barking.

Do I have other guys looking at my phone? Do I have a mouse in my pocket? Who are you talking about with youse guys?

You started a thread about media persona and I gave you MY opinion on Butch Jones and MY perception of our past few coaches - as it related to MY perception of them in the media.

I went so far as to ask you a question of your opinion on the original post. Which you brilliantly answered with another question.

Then you managed to turn the thread in the direction of you and your experiences with a past Vol coach.

I should have known better than to take the bait. Well done. :hi:

Now get lost.

Sorry... All the truth... There are some good post about CBJ style with the media. There are some that want to make it their own agenda and might of been to a Ut game or two. I don't have a problem with CBJ and if you read my original post you would know that.

I am so tired of seeing this absolute non-sense posted every time CPF is brought into any discussion.

Where did he get complacent? The year before he was fired we had the number 3 class in the nation.. he signed 5.. count them 5.. 5 star players.. do you get recruiting classes like that through complacence?

Or was it on the field.. where the year before he was fired we were playing for the SEC championship?

I swear to god my IQ drops a point every time I am forced to read that absolute idiotic comment everyone spits out trying to justify his firing.. when we ALL know deep down.. no matter how bad you don't want it to be true..

That it was a HUGE mistake...

Or do you actually think the past 6 years..becoming the laughing stock of CFB.. is better then 2 losing seasons in a 16 year career... a NC.. and 6 times winner of the SEC east? and averaging 10 wins a season.

Now go ahead and start flaming away... show how far the retardation actually goes around here.

Nah - I won't flame. The subject has been argued ad nauseum. You don't agree with my opinion...that's fine. People have different opinions on the subject. But I bet my IQ hasn't dropped reading yours.

I do agree with you, however, that had we not axed Fulmer we'd be in a better position today. I can't be certain whether that is a credit to CPF or the hires that were made after his departure.

There are plenty other threads to argue this subject. I regret making the point in this thread.

Very articulate. I can see where this comes in handy with your public speaking.

Sorry you haven't had the chance. If it bothers you. Nothing I can do about it.... :)

All you have to do is play college ball and talk to college players... :)

With every post like this you're even less believable. Which is difficult to do since I believed zero of it in the first place. But keep trying to convince me. I'm getting some good laughs from it.

Butch let's his emotions out on the field and in the locker room, so no need to stand In front of the media and air it all out. I appreciate the fact he doesn't blow smoke up our butts or make an arse out of himself.

Agreed! And the way we treated Phil probably hurt us in our coaching searches after he was gone.

Good point... Nothing wrong with his style. Every coach has away they go about business. I had a coach behind closes doors that would chew you out but infront of the media was a saint... :)
