CBJ bringing in PAC-MAN Jones to speak to team

1. Miss training camp due to a contract dispute.

2. If being honored by the hometown sports group, throw a tantrum when the valet parking guys don't bring you your car first.

3. Don't check in with your probation officer.

4. Get messed up the ganja and coke.

5. Spit on women

6. Get a police order against yourself to stay away from certain nightclubs.

7. Grab dancers in strip clubs by the hair and slam their heads against the floor.

8. Have one of your posse fire a gun into a crowd paralyzing a man.

9. Pay off all witnesses to the shooting so they lie in court.

10. Get yourself suspended from the league in the prime of your career.

11. Bite a nightclud security guard on the ankle.

12. Hit more women in strip clubs.

13. Despite making millions, get your house foreclosed.

14. Get in a fight with your bodyguard.

15. Waste your talent and your life.

Yep. Just the guy I would want talking to my team.

Too bad Merlin Olsen died. :cray:

The transcript of that speech will have a lot of dis, axe, ya-no?, swag, styll, aights, & liten's. Some new words will be added to the English language as well. Words like obliteratory, amazinful, precaringious,

I worked at a prison for a fee years and it's really shocking how much impact somebodys story can have on you even if the out come isn't the best... Sometimes it doesn't take the Peyton Mannings and all the success stories to really hit home with these kids... I'm assuming most of them are dealing the same things as pac man did at that point in his life... So even with all of his mistakes I see it as a smart choice... Just bc you can't just always see the best situations some times you have to see how the bad side is as well...

Good post. Doubt the self-righteous snits will comprehend it. You remind me of what Edward Hoch said:

"There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it hardly behooves any of us
To talk about the rest of us.

Don't see anything wrong with it. He may just tell the team what can happen if you make wrong and stupid decisions. It could be a message Butch Jones is wanting to remind these kids that it's not worth getting into trouble.

I think it could be a good thing too. I thought bringing in Maurice Clarett was a positive thing as well.

It's one thing for your mom, dad or 40 something year old coach who has never had any problems with the law to preach to you about being responsible for yourself and being a good citizen, but the message can have a much greater impact when an older peer who has been right where you are sitting talks to you about what acting like an asshat and pissing away your talent gets you.

Sharing real life experiences with people who can relate to you can send a strong message.

I think you're underestimating PacMan as a speaker. I mean the guy has talked his way into way more second chances than he deserved.

Wow, he's not bringing Pacman in to play on the team or coach a position. Relax fellas, he's not gonna pass out automatic rifles and sacks of weed.

I think it's great that Butch continues to bring in pro talent. Some of the guys on our team may have come from a rough background, and having someone like Pacman say "You don't have to let that follow you" could help them.

But don't bring facts to VN...especially ones that may show that cbj may make questionable decisions..

PAC man hasn't changed.. He has proven that over n over..

A weird move IMO..

Next week's guest lecture for the Vol Football team...

OJ Simpson: "How to prevent your relationships from turning violent."

Dumb decision by your coach IMO. I would say the same if he was coach of my team.

For those that say he isn't coming to speak, he is coming to coach, I would ask,

How could that possibly be good?

oh

you have a real obsession with our team. All that matters for your team is August 31th.

in your case, it doesnt matter who speaks to our team or what 4th stringers leave the team. why are you so worried about it?

I don't get this move by CBJ at all. Possibly his first misstep off the field as our coach.

Pacman Jones is still just as likely to rape a woman and shoot somebody in the face before the NFL season starts as he is to keep his nose clean. Could've chosen a ton of other guys who have dealt with adversity and truly turned their lives around. Bad decision IMO.

Butch likely met Pacman during his 2 yrs as WR coach at WVU.

Pacman's last season at WVU was '04 and Butch was at WVU in '05 & '06.

People need to chill.

The team can learn a lot from PAC Mans mistakes. I'm alright with it.

I just think there are a lot of guys who give a more impactful message because they've overcome their mistakes and have gone on to good to great things with excellent perspective on their past. Although his transgressions have slowed down, Pacman is still in his "mistake phase". He just had an issue with a woman a few months ago where he threw a drink in her face and took a swing at her because she recognized him and wanted an autograph or something. This guy basically ordered a hit on a Vegas nightclub bouncer just a few years ago.... that guy will never walk again, is confined to a wheelchair.

I just disagree he's the right guy. There are other more credible, better human beings that could give the message that CBJ wants to impart to his players.
