CBJ hosts former Vol lettermen

Just read on "Tennessee Football News" (Facebook) : CBJ tweeted just a little while ago that there are over 60 former VOLS that have shown up tonight for the meet and greet with him and his staff and to view the new complex. Apparently, Dooley wouldn't let these men, who made this program what it is, come to see this over the last 3 years.

This is probably why Joey Kent is suddenly tweeting pics of the training facility.

And to believe some folks wanted to give that guy another year. CBJ is embracing the TN tradition and the folks who came before him. He has my full support.

Win the hearts and minds and you'll have complete loyalty. If can do this with his players, Tennessee will have a bright future.

The irony is Dooley made a number of changes that really improved the facility, but then did not want former Vols around.

Very smart move. Nothing like staying in touch with all the stakeholders.

In terms of Dooley, I'm no defender of his b/c I think he's squarely in the middle of a coaching learning curve. However, wasn't the complex recently completed? If so, it would make sense that he hadn't invited former Vols to see a partially completed complex.

He did not need the practice facility to invite them over.:hi:

This is what I just read--don't know how true it is:

Tennessee Football News:

Well, this comes from the former players I know. Dooley put in a rule that any former player wanting to come back to visit had to not only call and make an appointment but had to actually fill out a piece of paper and have it approved by Dooley himself. He didn't let any of them come to practice like they had been able to under Fulmer. Pretty much none of the former players have even seen the new complex. One of the craziest stories I was told was that one of the equipment managers found some things of a former player while cleaning out one of the old closets and Dooley wouldn't even let this equipment manager contact this player to let him know that he had them. Dooley wanted complete control over everyone and as soon as coach Jones was hired this Equipment Manager was able to call and return the things that were found to the player.

I'm not sold on Jones yet. Just being better than Dooley is a far cry from actually being good.

Maybe not...but it sure has felt a lot more like the VOL NATION around here since CBJ was hired....who knows....he may flop,..but so far I like what I see & hear !!:clapping:

Hell yeah!!!

And later on, after the tour of the new complex, CBJ is going too hold a presser in front of all the alumni explaining how he is going to buy out of the Oregon game.

Lulz  I still can't believe you think that's a good idea, BV.

That's awesome! CBJ has been full motor non-stop since arriving. He's got the fires burning big orange.
