CBJ Monday Presser:

"We are looking to be 1 & 0 going into the off season."

Interesting.

"You have to work on your "craft" at all times"

Never heard football called a craft.

"I see tremendous strides and progression in many areas."

'Success isn't totally measured by a bowl game."

"I see the progress everyday; sometimes that is not measured by wins and losses."

We are stuck with this guy bc changing only makes it worse. Some doubts about him are beginning to show up. I don't think he will ever win an SEC championship. He is a good coach- not a great coach. The team , to my eye, has not made consistent progress this year and that was the main thing I thought would happen. Enough of the brick by brick stuff- it has become stale and ironic at this time. He is the one that put so much stock in going to a bowl- maybe we can get him into politics- he seems adept at spinning whatever screw-up he just made . Oh, and lack of success is losing to Vandy at Kville, that is a a cold ,hard fact, not spinnable.

anchored ...as if the rest of the recruits are a boat that will float away without the legacy guys

The legacy players are what built/established the base for this class....without them this class would be average at best.

While the legacies have certainly helped, I think "average at best" is reaching.

Didn't he also say about 8 weeks ago that anything less than bowl eligibility would be considered a failure?

It is a failure and he knows it but he cant let the team feel like failures. He has to motivate them to win the next game and keep moving forward rebuilding our program from the ground up.

Which six or seven teams were we more talented than? Honest question.

There's no excuse for losing to Vandy. Ever. But if I were making excuses for when this team started regressing, it coincides with the time we were forced to play a true freshman at quarterback. Agree?

I'm never opposed to looking to upgrade coordinators or staff but I don't think you can run someone off just because someone better is available. Butch has 3-6 years with his coordinators, if I recall, and I think they deservemore than one season to prove themselves. After next year, if we still see glaring issues, I might be with you. But right now, I've seen both good and bad from this staff and I think making a move now would be premature.
This is very close to how I feel, though I will say that I don't think CBJ will win big here with these coordinators. However, I also believe they deserve at least another year (the coordinators) just to coach their own recruited players.

As far as CBJ is concerned, he speaks volumes by what he does say and by what he doesn't say and also the way he says it. Perhaps people should disregard it all, I don't know. But whether he says it or not, he has to improve too, and if he doesn't he better have the players here to amend his flaws on gameday like Les Miles does.

I'm still very supportive of him, but not blindly so.

Coach speak is one thing you can appreciate from Spurrier. You don't have to listen to a whole lot. Basically, if he's not happy and things aren't going well, he says they suck and don't look good.

I don't know but even if he did what is your point? I mean have you ever failed at anything in life? Let me say it for CBJ, the Tennessee football team FAILED to reach one of it's goals this year. Does that make you feel any better? I guess not because of the tone of your negavol statement. Life has taught me some great lessons because of failure. It's all in how you react to failure that counts. Again, I guess you are perfect and would not understand, sorry!
:hi:

I am not the one on a National stage claiming "we will" and saying this is not accepted blah blah. :finger3:

You say we are stuck with this guy. I say we are fortunate to have a coach who will take this team to the nights we expect and is building the base to get that accomplished. Next year we will be able to field a team of true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen, and which would give the 2013 a run for their money in head to head competition. While I understand that that alone it not saying we will win the SEC or beat Alabama, but it does say that we will have more speed, more athletic players, and a team which will lay the foundation for SEC Championship teams in the future. WE will have better quarterbacking, better receivers, better defensive linemen, better linebacking, better defensive ends, better tight ends, better running backs and better special teams. We will also have less experience at all of those positions, so the outcomes of our games should be exciting. I look to the future and see a lot of good things happening. The past is the past and one never pushes froward looking back to the past. One must realize where we were and that progress will be made. Give it time and enjoy the Rise To The Top.
