CBJ has done an excellent job in his first year as UT coach, especially when you factor in the potential 2014 signing class. He seems very well respected throughout college football. With that being said, do you think Penn State's national search committee will reach out to CBJ? I have read that James Franklin is high on their list. I think CBJ would not interview even if contacted, but it might be even more positive national exposure if CBJ was contacted and turned down the interview. What do you guys think?

Why would Butch want to go Penn State and coach in the shadows of Paterno and the Sandusky boy sex scandal anyway?

I never said he would be interested. I wanted to see what your thoughts about PSU contacting him? I would take him over Franklin any day of the week.

Dream job remember.

He did say that

Along with Best Staff. But I soon was told that Best Staff was just coach speak and that he really didn't mean Best Staff

So now you got me wondering if Dream Job was just coach speak and he might or might not really mean Dream Job

Doom!

OP No! If Butch and CO. bolt for PSU, then we will lose the best staff in America.

And if we lose that, what term is going to be dead horse beaten ad nauseum?

Aside from the recruiting class that isn't yet official (they haven't SIGNED), what about his performance last year can you say PSU would want?

1) Beating USCe was impressive with the players we have. I think this year was USCe's 3rd straight year of 11 wins.
2) Play against UGA was impressive as well.
I realize those aren't huge on a resume, but they help in his overall appeal.
I can't see PSU hiring an assistant coach from anywhere. Maybe they will hire Munchak or Franklin. Whoever takes the job, has an absolute stud at QB that will only be a soph next year.
*** Once again, any other posters, I am not saying he is leaving. I simply asked if anyone thought he would be contacted.

Dream job remember.

Exactly. If, and it's a big if, CBJ were tied at all to being on PSUs list and he doesn't squash it ASAP he will lose a HUGE chunk of this fan base that fell for his "coach speak".

Most coaches would love it to get a raise, but CBJ is in no place to have his name connected to another job atm. Unless he really wants to go there and feels his chances r 100% he'll get the gig.

Just all imho of course...

I didn't even think about that. Good point. I agree with you, I don't think he would be looking for a bump in pay. Saban is the KING of getting raises based on other job offers. He is ridiculously paid anyway- Saban that is.

5-7 under any circumstance deserves no raise or extension. If he flirts, and I don't think he will, I'd simply show him the door. And in this case, I wouldn't be saying anything bad about Jones.
CBJ has chosen to present himself a certain way. I'd like to think that this is genuine and not just some sales pitch. The way he has presented himself is that THIS is his dream job, he knew the struggle, and said, "I'm your man, and I aint leaving until the job is done." So, I'm taking him at his word.
So, hypothetically speaking, if he were to flirt with other jobs or attempt to milk a raise or extension, then he is not who he says he is. And in that case, UT would be better to cut ties now. Again, I don't think this is who CBJ is, and I doubt we have any drama as far as other jobs go.

Saban is worth every penny.

It took 9 years for the General Robert Neyland to lose his first 7 games, CBJ did that in his first year. Why in the world would he want to leave the best job and best staff in America for Penn State. Dude, you are crazy -- we're going to have to run him off, he's not going to leave on his own.

If Hoke or Dantonio ever leave the Michigan universities, then that is when you might see CBJ's name pop up as a potential replacement.

I doubt he's even crossed PSU AD's mind.

He would've had to beaten Florida, UGA, Vandy & won the bowl game for a 9-4 finish for people to try and steal him away. JMO.

Right and saban and other coaches have the upper hand. And deserved. Perhaps, in a few yrs CBJ will too but right now is to delicate of a time for him to be asking for more money. He's getting pd way more than the guy before him, and hasn't really showed he is worth it yet. Even if he does sign this current class as is.

I heard they would only go after CBJ if Dooley turned them down.

Wait, do y'all even like Coach Jones? I really can't tell.

It's business. I like him and right now am optimistic about our future. I also can see that there have been some improvement since he took over the helm, but the most important factor to improve, the W/L column, hasn't improved and I'd be an idiot to pretend that's unimportant.

Jones has to make a bowl game next year or his seat could start warming up.

No, bUTch will not leave or even be interviewed by any major college until after he proves himself at U.T. However; after we win big in 2015, you can expect it to be difficult to hold on to him. Like maybe Michigan or Michigan State comes calling. He is from Michigan, you know.

Also, James Franklin will NOT go to Penn State! Vandy pays Franklin more money than O Brien got at Penn State, so Penn State would have to give up more money to him.

Also, Franklin wants to bring in his own coaches, but Penn State wants their recruiting co ordinator to remain on board. Larry Johnson Sr.

Penn State would have to get past the money issue and the retaining of their recruiting co ordinator before Franklin would go there.

Also, Penn State has the fired coach of Tampa Bay as #1 on their list to hire. Doudt an unemployed NFL coach will turn down the Penn State job.
