i will also say that the florida game will be very interesting.

muschamp isn't completely clueless. he knows that if florida loses to tennessee (having already lost to alabama) with lsu, georgia, south carolina, and florida state still on the schedule......he can start packing his stuff in his office immediately.

it's an absolute must win to keep his job and florida will have a bye week. i can't promise florida will play well (it would be nice to see), but i can promise that they will play very, very hard that day.

at the same time, it's a must win for butch jones.

It's going to be an intense game for sure.

Depending on what we look like through week three, and what UGA and OU look like through that same time, I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff doesn't open the playbook until Florida comes to town.

No sense in tipping our hand against teams that are likely to pummel us no matter what.

Although let's get real here...the game is going to mean more to the UT players than it will for the UF players. Rah rah speeches aside, I don't see the Gators "wanting" the W as much as the Vols. We've been a sure win for ya'll for nearly a decade, while the entire UT coaching staff and team would buy themselves a ton of breathing room if they pulled off the win.

That may or may not make any bit of difference on the field, though. I'm sure Dooley and co. wanted the 2012 game more any other in their careers, and they blew it big time.

I think that some people forget that we were two plays from being 7-5 last year. We should have won against UGA if not for an untimely fumble and would have won against Vandy if not for the penalty. CBJ outcoached those opposing coaches. Period. It was lack of execution which lost us those games.

Team 118 will have better athletes. Yes, they will be young, but I feel CBJ will be able to open up the playbooks a little more this year because he has the athletes to to it. I would not be surprised with a 6-6 year. I also would not be surprised with a 8 or 9 win season. We will just have to wait and see when they get on the field. I for one am excited to see what these guys bring to the field. It's going to be a fun year.

Not yet. He needs 6 however he gets there in order to keep recruiting momentum going and to preserve the current level of support he's getting from fans. Seven and he's golden.

He does need to beat UF soon. It doesn't have to be this year.

That site's got them going 8-4 with a worst case 6-6.

:lolabove:

Maybe I was wrong. So they're going 8-4 with a loss to UT? That's an interesting prediction.

I don't hate Mizzou though I am critical. I actually have a son there right now.

That said, I think their roster losses spell big trouble.

W-SDSU- Cupcake
Push- @Toledo- Mizzou could easily lose this game. Toledo gave them a run last year before all of the roster losses.
W-UCF- tougher OOC opponent than Mizzou usually schedules. But at home they should win.
W- Indiana- they schedule these types of games so they can say they played an OOC game vs a BCS opponent.
L- @USC- they won't stand a chance of slowing USC's running game down. The Ol' Ball coach may not even throw it.
L- UGA- ugly revenge game.
L- @UF- too little talent to compete with UF. Their best shot is if Muschamp's fate is already sealed and the Gators aren't motivated.
Push- Vandy- Similar talent. Both have huge holes and unknowns.
W- UK- they're still UK
L- @TAM- too much talent
L- @UT- Yep. I'm doing something I seldom do and making an ironclad prediction. IMO, UT's young talent will be seasoned enough to make a long day for MU by week 10.
Push- Arkansas- Who honestly knows how far the Hogs are from being credible again?

So I got them at a high of 7 with a low of 4 wins. We'll see who's right.

You forgot the Vandy game.

Also UK comes before the Missouri game, does it not?

Utah State
Arkansas State
@ Oklahoma
bye
@ Georgia
Florida
Chattanooga
@ Ole Miss
Alabama
@ South Carolina
bye
Kentucky
Missouri
@ Vanderbilt

now, because of tennessee's youth and recent past history....the road games are losses. the exception being vandy because it's the end of the year and freshman won't be like freshman anymore and james franklin is in happy valley.

so, that's losses to ole miss, south carolina, georgia and oklahoma.

another loss to bama....because it's bama.

i'll give butch the benefit of the doubt in games at home vs. mizzou and florida and tennessee goes 7-5.

way to pander to the base.

IF two Sec teams make it in the playoffs then 7 and 5 or maybe even 6 and 6 could get Tennessee in the Peach bowl.Prime time tv slot and only game on anywhere.Vols beat up on maybe Virginia tech or Miami?Happy new years!!Go Vols and HTTR!!

Auburn didn't replace all starters on both O-line and D-line in 2013

I know but you cannot realistically think any AU fan would have thought they would have a winning record last year. Do I think we will win 10 games? Absolutely not. However stranger things have happened.

I say we add the UF and USCe to the win column.

We have Florida at home, and are starving for revenge against them during a down time for both teams. Florida is the more likely win. It's not that I don't believe we can't win the USC game, I do, it's the same principle though. They are in an up-swing and we're one of the few things that stopped them from going on a national title run last year, and in their house. They're starving for revenge against us.

Yes we have lost to Alabama quite but calling this game a bad break is someone that does not know very much about Alabama Volunteer football.

We are going to win 2 games that we will be underdogs in this year Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama or Oklahoma.

Sadly, I compute the last 2 at a 5% chance for either.
One of the last four is 10%.

This team wont be road ready with the youth and Alabama might be the most winable,to be honest.

9-3 is a realist option depending on how the QB plays. If someone steps up and is the man, the Vols could get to 9-3 by winning a lot of close games. If the QB play is as bad as last season, the Vols will struggle to get to 6-6.

IMHO this is how I see the Season shaking out.
i see 6-6 with a possible Surprise Win to take it to 7-6
** = possible Surprise Win

Win against Utah St. ( Close game in the 4th win by 7)
Win against Ark. St. ( Close at Half but i believe we pull it out by 14)
Loss to Oklahoma ( probably down by 10 at half losing by 20 in the end)
Loss against Georgia ** ( Tight ball game all the way to the Wire, lose by 3)
Win against Florida ( Redemption for 9 years, Solid Team Effort win by 10)
Win against Chatt. ( 1st Team Shines First Half, Second Team Mops up win by 24
Loss to Ole Miss. ** ( Young team looks ahead to Bama lose by 4)
Loss to Bama ( Closer than think for 1st half, emotion runs out lose by 21)
Loss to S.C. (Ole Ball Coach will have them ready for Redemption loss by 14
Win against Kentucky ( We Return to Owning Kentucky Win by 21)
Loss to Mizz. ( Offensive Speed, wears on the young D. Loss by 9)
Win against Vandy ( Coach Puts the Pedal Down and Doesn't let up Win by 24)

But it does put us Bowl Eligible

I still don't see how anyone can blame all of our lack of production last year on our QB play alone. Would you not agree that if North was down or out, our passing game suffered tremendously? Double coverage on him and it's even worse. I think with more experience, and the new talented receivers we have, our QB play can be the same as last year and improve greatly since there will be actual options. Oh and let's not forget more talented tight end play this year.
