CFN.com tabs 6-6 season for Vols

Utah State - W (closer than some think)
Ark State - W (typical cupcake game)
OU - L (blowout)
UGA - toss up
UF - toss up
Nooga - W (lil brother gets whooped)
Ole Miss - toss up
Bama - (closer than people think)
USCe (toss up)
UK - W (UK will be UK)
Mizzu - toss up
Vandy - (revenge is a dish best served cold)

Considering our youth especially on the OL and DL we win 1 maybe 2 of the toss ups. UF or Mizzu are the most likely. USC is the least likely. I could see wins at either UGA out Ole Miss for sure but would'nt bet on them as they are on the road. Tennessee ends up with 6-9 wins. I'm betting 7 at this point. I said 6 earlier in the off season. Going to 7 due to the loss of starters at
Florida and that games move away from being our 1st SEC game.

I see USC running rampant on the thin Tennessee defensive line.

The Vols have depth in the defensive line, but they lack experience. We should expect growing pains, but by the time Vandy and Kentucky show up on the schedule they should be hitting their stride.

I know but you cannot realistically think any AU fan would have thought they would have a winning record last year. Do I think we will win 10 games? Absolutely not. However stranger things have happened.

Agree to disagree?

For 10 wins we'd have only 2 losses

Let's assume Oklahoma & Bama are the 2.

That leaves us with must wins over Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss, & Mizzou - also no room for error in the games we will likely be favored to win.

Too much for a team as young as ours to overcome.

I like the optimism, but 10 wins in 2014 is a fantasy.

Next year could be a different story.

Hope you're right - we may have a few hitting the "freshman wall" too.

IF two Sec teams make it in the playoffs then 7 and 5 or maybe even 6 and 6 could get Tennessee in the Peach bowl.Prime time tv slot and only game on anywhere.Vols beat up on maybe Virginia tech or Miami?Happy new years!!Go Vols and HTTR!!

No.

The Peach is a top tier Bowl going fwd. 6-6 or 7-5 was not good enough before the changes, now it is surely not happening. so again, No.

No.

Maybe I was wrong. So they're going 8-4 with a loss to UT? That's an interesting prediction.

I don't hate Mizzou though I am critical. I actually have a son there right now.

That said, I think their roster losses spell big trouble.

W-SDSU- Cupcake
Push- @Toledo- Mizzou could easily lose this game. Toledo gave them a run last year before all of the roster losses.
W-UCF- tougher OOC opponent than Mizzou usually schedules. But at home they should win.
W- Indiana- they schedule these types of games so they can say they played an OOC game vs a BCS opponent.
L- @USC- they won't stand a chance of slowing USC's running game down. The Ol' Ball coach may not even throw it.
L- UGA- ugly revenge game.
L- @UF- too little talent to compete with UF. Their best shot is if Muschamp's fate is already sealed and the Gators aren't motivated.
Push- Vandy- Similar talent. Both have huge holes and unknowns.
W- UK- they're still UK
L- @TAM- too much talent
L- @UT- Yep. I'm doing something I seldom do and making an ironclad prediction. IMO, UT's young talent will be seasoned enough to make a long day for MU by week 10.
Push- Arkansas- Who honestly knows how far the Hogs are from being credible again?

So I got them at a high of 7 with a low of 4 wins. We'll see who's right.

CFN seems to pick team records first (and maybe conference standings), then afterwards make the schedules work to match them. But second on their list, they're also bad about trying to call an upset win on each team's schedule.

They also often make choices heavily based on streaks (they don't pick against strong streaks; these are done often without respect to team comparisons).

They likely did less roster research than expected just in general.

I'm also still not sure why Arky is a push here...especially after a 3 win season; everyone's expecting Vandy to be much worse as well.
