I think its funny how they are essentially admitting that Oregon got screwed as #1 seed by getting the winner of UT/OSU. Undefeated and rewarded with hardest bracket.

No question that Oregon got the toughest draw. The committee did them no favors.

Eliminate the Conference Championship byes, the bias, and the best eye look test for games and you have a whole new world order.

Alabama getting in would have been a nightmare with seeding and it would have been a gift and a cakewalk to the Championship game as a 11 or 12 seed. The committee was not going to let that happen nor were they going to put 4 teams from the SEC in the playoffs.

I hate the auto byes for winning conference. Texas, for example, is ranked 8 spots higher than ASU but if they beat Clemson, ASU gets a home game in the Fiesta Bowl....

Obviously, hosting a game in Neyland would've been amazing... but..

I remember riots over Lane Kiffin leaving us at the altar in the middle of the night.

I can remember not so long sitting in the stadium watching Derek Dooley in shootouts with UAB and Troy.

I remember watching and being emotional when Butch Jones finally got us a ranked win over South Carolina after a long drought. And then a few years later watching him piss it all away by losing to Vanderbilt with a world beater roster.

I remember watching Jeremey Pruitt flush it all down the drain vs Georgia State.


It feels so good today to being on of 12 teams left standing today with an opportunity to play for a National Championship. It feels so good that our most heated rivals, Alabama and Florida, are not one of those 12 teams.

We have come a long, long way and I'm excited. We are finally in contention for a championship again. Its been a very long time.

I don't care if it's Columbus, Knoxville or Egypt for that matter. Go Vols! Beat Ohio St, Beat Oregon.. Go win us a Natty.

It's very clear this playoff was set up in the world of a few years ago when you had 5 legitimate power conferences. I'm sure the 2026 version of this will look different.

I don't have any big issues us being 9. Us, TX, Ohio St, Penn State, and Notre Dame all about the same. All inconsistent at times, all look really good at times. I think Penn State being 2 spots above Ohio State is stupid given OSU beat them, played Oregon closer at Oregon, and has higher SOS.

We are a very dangerous team for any of these teams including GA, Texas and the ducks. Our defense is one of the best in the country and have the pieces on offense to beat any team. And I know that if UNLV has beaten Boise State, they were out - so why is SMU special??

If SMU had been blown out, they would be out. A game with a last second field goal is why they are in. Simple as that.

The playoffs aren’t the problem. In fact they are long overdue. The problem is the conference sizes and there now being wild variations in SOS within the same conference.

And if it matters for bama, it should matter for ohio state. Their loss to miichigan is uglier than bama's loss to OK......and it was the last game they played.

Ohio State should be no higher than 9.......but they are.

Whatever happens, there will be no consistency; and that is the frustrating part.
It's like when one team is called for multiple holdings while the other team isn't flagged once.

I guess the life lesson is… life isn’t fair lol.

If Bama deserved to be in they wouldn’t have lost to Oklahoma and Vandy. In no stretch should they be in, and imo this is the right call.

The amount of people calling for Bama to be in is mind blowing to me. Bama fans would NEVER demand we be in or make a call for it. In fact they would be high fiving each other and making fun of us.. I think it’s about time we followed suit!

Our path is clear and it runs through Ohio State at their house and then through Oregon at their house. I’m not looking beyond that. We have nobody to blame but ourselves for where we are. We have a good football team…sometimes great. Have we played championship football once this season? (Yes, in my opinion…first half of GA game.) The rest of the games were about what a good football team could expect…sometimes a little less than that.

Now, we will see what kind of team we have, including our coaching staff, who were outcoached a few times this season, as I see it.

We need to play championship football starting right now. No more good-to-great football. That won’t cut it. Good-to-great goes home.

Champions win the games in front of them and then start looking for the next one. They travel well and win on the road. They don’t make stupid mistakes and keep getting stupid penalties. They look in the mirror and see a champion ready to chew through a concrete wall and spit out the other side and look good doing it.

We’ll see what kind of team we really have soon.

Getting to the Rose Bowl would be an incredible achievement for this team. That has always been one of my favorite NY6 bowls.

Obviously winning it all would be incredible but I really want to see the Vols in Pasadena playing in one of the most historic bowls in college football.
