Texas race was a bore fest. better rip up the track.
Agreed.........
Since Texas, Atlanta, Vegas, Kentucky, and Charlotte are all basically the same they could shorten Texas to 1 mile, make it progressively banked from about 20-30 degrees in the corners with a high banked dogleg at the start-finish line.
That race last night was honestly the worst NASCAR Cup race in a good 3-4 years easily. With Kansas this weekend the odds of a better race HAVE to be a bit better but not much.
At least with Michigan and Pocono coming up in June this year they will be very interesting again with the new pavement. At Michigan they were hitting 215 down the backstretch in the test this week and running 190-195 MPH lap averages. If they don't put plates on at MIS it will be like Daytona/Dega for a couple of years with a crapton of drafting.
And at Pocono Matt Kenseth was quoted saying that he thinks without plates they'll be hitting 230 going into Turn 1. THAT will be an attention getter.
Well I typed it into a Google search and couldn't find what I read. In this article he says something about 215 but doesn't mention Pocono "specifically" in the quote.

Good thing Kansas is using the same genius solution Bristol is.
I saw lots of empty seats today during an overhead shot of the grandstand. I think it might be time to demolish the track.

the difference is, Bristol was once by far the hottest ticket in nascar and now they don't even come close to selling out. bristol has always sold itself as a short throwback dirt style track. that means leaning on each other and plenty of excitement. it was unique in that aspect on the circuit. that is why it appealed to so many. yeah the economy is down, but if the racing was close to what it used to be there the fans would go period. like it or not, that is what the fans want and that is what bruton is giving them. it's not hard to understand. the customer is always right.
of course them demanding money from season ticket holders a year in advance didn't help their cause either.
