I think fisher will interview on Monday followed by a statment from FSU giving Him facility demands and maybe a new contract. Then it's strongs job.

Watch out for Bell,Ramsey, Alexander, Lawson, Hatcher, Levenberry, White, Bryant, etc.... Strong has relationships already established with them and all expressed high interest at UT at some point.

Hubbs said Gundy will be interviewed Sunday, Fisher Monday. People close to Strong say he said it went well.

I'll be fair with you, if Charlie gets the job, I'll be very happy and I can definitely live with it. Would General Neyland be glad to see a good defensive man step in there? Hell, yes.

Thanks. Strong excites me a lot! I posted last week I would take him and never look back on the gruden ordeal. Lets hope it works out!!

I would love to get Charlie Strong. It would be the first high profile SEac job for a black coach which would do wonders for recruiting. I just think in terms of our rebuilding, recruiting the best classes is the most important thing. Its too difficult in our conference to win on good coaching alone. I hope this happens.

Strong has my vote! I will be just as happy with him as any other coach besides the one that is not coming. Strong will have the SEC to recruit to. He will do amazing here.

Most ignorant post ever. Can't believe there are still nimrods who focus on skin color. Not to mention it's not even true, Sumlin is black, but skin color is the least important reason to hire or not hire anyone.

I'm just glad Gundy is getting an interview. Do I think he'd likely leave OK State? No. Do I think he'd be a terrific fit? Yes I do...that being said, I live up here in Cardinals country for law school (and the foreseeable future post grad), and Strong has a school that traditionally didn't care much about football rallied around him...selling out their stadium routinely...and he's built that program into something special. Suffice to say, I'd be content with Charlie Strong as our HBC.

So, my question was, what makes one candidate better at recruiting in Knoxville over another candidate who would be recruiting in Knoxville. The other person said strong had good relationships. I don't know how that is measured. I would say some names are associated with winning established programs (Tressel at Ohio State for example) and can pretty much recruit anywhere. Being a HC for a short time at Louisville doesn't give me great assurance on its own merit. I just think there are several candidates ahead of him in weighing out all that goes into the job description.

This will sound cliche' but the color of his skin means a TON. A lot of these kids we go after come from single mother homes, who do you think the mommas are going to like better? Middle aged white guy or young positive black man as a positive role model in their sons life. The man can coach and recruit. Swain has already talked to several high profile recruits not even considering UT that will commit as soon as strongs ink is dry on the contract.

Young is relative...Strong is 52...older than the majority of our likely candidates...but I do get your point.

If you care about skin color that much, you're a racist, and I'm glad I have the pleasure of not knowing you. Amazing the double standard, amazing. "relate to your own race" might be the most racist statement I've heard in years. We are HUMANS, that's our race. If someone's skin color affects how you relate to them, you're an ignorant racist.

I am not referring to the color of skin...??? What uniquely qualifies CS to recruit better than other candidates? And, then, what about all the other things that go with the job? I just don't see CS having enough proven experience at a high level yet. He would be in a lower tier for me.
