Just for the record, if I am racists for saying black athletes and their families could relate better to a black coach better, then I guess Jason Swain is racists too. He said the same thing on Swain and Rucker Thursday

I'd take Gundy right now. OSU has had a down year at 7-5, but I think he could have us winning in no time. I would just hope he would be willing to dump some of his defensive staff and hire guys with SEC ties/experience or Narduzzi at MSU. OSU's message boards are screaming for him to be fired. It would be sweet if he said screw it and headed for Knoxville. Would he be worth 4.6 million a year/6 years to Vol fans?

I am not sure if he would consider keeping Graham or Pittman. Most of his offensive staff have been with him 2 years(OL coach 5 years). Where the defensive staff has been with him 2 years and he has CO DC's.

So...coach announcement Tuesday, maybe? Doubt Fisher leaves FSU, same for Gundy w/ Oklahoma State. Gundy especially is angling for a raise.

Really good job by hart leaking yesterday's news so post like these could be made. The fanbase is moving on and I really like the momentum CS is getting here. Without yesterday nobody cared about this thread

yes..he has proven an awful lot. The players love him. Tough competition. National exposure...yes, a good investment...

I think this is an oversimplification. Maybe the way he worded wasn't the best but you can't just ignore this fact. Racism is still alive and well in this world and to pretend racial issues don't exist is almost as bad as racism itself.

We are, of course, all equal (or at least should be) and I am glad you think that. But to ignore cultural and racial issues and implications is misguided, that's all.

I can't speak for the guy's original comment though, just my two sense.

Warming up to the idea of Charlie Strong, the thought of him bored me originally, to be honest. Hope whoever we get does well but hard to have a lot of confidence in the UTAD.

If he is angling for a raise following a 7-5 season, he may not like the outcome. I think he is a great coach but to expect a raise at 7-5 is a reach at best. I think even Fulmer had to win 8 to get his extension/raise.

Gundy would be my top choice if they can somehow get him. But I can't see him leaving his alma mater and not when they have T. Boone.

OK State has T. Boone Pickens on their side, they're fine. And Gundy has done a pretty incredible job there. Down season, but they were breaking in a new QB (who got injured early on; they were on their third-string QB by this game) and they didn't return very many starters. Don't get your hopes up...people in Stillwater still love him.

Thats all I am saying. Its neither right nor wrong. Just a fact. Just because people of the same race or culture relate to the same group doesnt make them racist. I wasnt saying thats why we should hire him. We should hire him because he is a good coach. The fact that he happens to be black, will help him on the recruiting trail to relate with the kids he is recruiting. Nothing racist about it.

For me it would depend on who is hired. Charlie Strong, we could keep Chaney. The man just needs to learn that running the ball is not a bad thing. If Gundy were hired, I would want Monken to come along. It just depends who the OC is and how he has performed.
