Chase Burns Appreciation Thread

With the NIL now and all that comes along with it, I can almost guarantee that grades aren’t a big factor. It’s all about winning now and schools will do whatever they have to do to achieve it. You really think Paul Skenes for example is sitting in every class and not missing anything?

This is what I am saying. Where does it stop? I know I am old and have gotten less likely to except change. BUT I like college sports like they were in the far gone days of my youth. I know, there was grading, recruiting, and even player pay of some sort. But at least there was some effort to police things, now, well anything goes.

TRUTH.

The "college" in major-college athletics has largely been lost, especially with respect to football and basketball. I never paid much attention
to the Ivy League approach to athletics--but nowadays I can appreciate it. Major college athletics reeks of corruption, commercialism, greed now.
As anyone read a good article or have actual details in what is in an NIL contract? I've seen nothing. It would be very interesting to get the details on some NIL contracts--would be fascinating.

Simply put, Without Chase Burns, the Vols don't beat Clemson, they don't beat USM and they don't win the Stanford game. In fact, without Chase Burns do the Vols make the NCAA tourney at all?

However, Chase Burns's early season problems helped put the Vols behind the 8-ball

Kudos to Chase for turning the tide and not quitting on the 2023 team.

However, he needs to step back and give the "process" and systems some credit for his late season success. He was obviously hurt by the perceived demotion. But it obviously worked.

Is it true that Chase Burns only attended his high school baseball games that he was scheduled to pitch? This has to be a silly rumor, but would ask if there’s any confirmation of this?

Probably looking for a top shelf NIL deal for that third year, probably not at the top of the list at Tennessee coming out of the pen. I think he'll end up at a baseball school that offers the best deal, but I think he's played his last game in Omaha.
UT offered more than anyone else. He's simply not happy about being put in the pen.

I, for one, despise soap opera drama....and personally this borders on that type of thing. Simply...If Chase wants (needs) to go...GO...and lets let all this attention turn to our team and the Vols. We are the Vols...a team made up of a ton of moving parts....and keeping or losing Chase Burns will be a tiny, insignificant blip on the screen. And I thank him for the absolute privilege it was to watch him here...BUT...the PRIVILEGE was much larger for him to every don the orange and white. One must realize....once you make these decisions like this....in the future....that decision you chose.... will now chose for you.... in the future. Hopefully some are wise enough to understand that proverb. (we are free to chose...we are NOT free not to chose....and once we've made our choice...that choice will now chose for us in the future)o_Oo_O

Is this a reliable source?

Burns is too talented to keep in the pen. It's one thing to move him to a relief role when he's struggling as a starter--but when
he's back on track you move him back into a starting role. Why? Because he was our most talented pitcher. The guy should have been
our No. 1 starter in the second half of the season--a no brainer. There are a lot of guys that can give you a few good innings out of the pen.
Vitello didn't get it right.
…and you’ve got a seven figure contract to coach at a Power 5, D1 school? I’ve held my tongue on numerous absurd statements in this thread but this one required a challenge. GDFO.
