from watching this 4th quarter of LSU vs UNC, it appears "3rd and Chavis" is alive and well in Baton Rouge....I cant remember the number of times ive gotten frustrated from watching him play soft coverage in the 4th quarter and the lead only to watch him blow it in the end....deja vu is setting in watching this game right now

That was hilarious. "Watch this," I said to my pro football-watching Yankee neighbor. "LSU is going to rush three guys, sit back in deep coverage, and let Carolina walk down into the red zone ten or fifteen yards at a time. And then when they get down there, LSU will blitz and give UNC two or three chances to win it in the end zone." Good to know that Chavis is still the same old Chavis.

Too painful to watch. Chavis never has been able to cover the TE slaant.........Witness UCLA loss in 2008.

When some of my buds said the game was over I reminded them 3rd and Chavis was at LSU and he would give NC a chance to win if LSU's offense didn't wake up. Isn't it a blessing him and the mafia boss are no longer here?

Hey, check out TigerDroppings. They are having a meltdown over there.

Chavis has been a DC since 1995, and since 1995 he has never adjusted his scheme to account for the following -

1. The slant
2. The tight end
3. The fullback

Miles + Chavis + Crowton = Fulmer + Chavis + Sanders

LSU's problems run deeper than just "offense." Trust me, we've been there.

I had no problem with the defense tonight... trust me I ***** about Chavis all the time. I thought they were much more aggressive especially on 3rd.

The offense is the problem.

Some idiots never learn that playing soft lets the opposition march down the field. Can he not retain any memory from previous games????

I think it was both but to be sure the D let them back into the game.

The offense had 4 first downs in the 2nd half... sorry buddy watch the game and only 11 for the whole game. The D was shutting them down early but the offense didn't do crap.

Seriously? While the offense isn't good either, did you watch the 4th quarter? Did you see how many yards Yates threw for on that defense?

You had two problems - the offense went stale and Chavis tried his best to let NC win by playing soft.....the same old rerun we were so familiar with.

It was the lack of offense not the defense guys.

We watched this for 15 years. If the UNC QB throws the ball to the other shoulder on the second to last play, then you lose, thanks to Chavis. Trust me, you're going to grow to hate having a lead in a close game with a couple of minutes left.

Remember that 2006 game in Knoxville, where Russell threw the winning TD on the last play of the game after driving down the field with almost no time left? Get used to being on the other side of that.

I stopped watching to eat a late dinner early in the 4th quarter when it was 30-10. I can't say I was terribly shocked when I came back and saw that UNC pulled within 6 and Corn Dog Chavis narrowly escaped another epic choke job.

This is why I said Chavis needed to go before Sanders. At least Sanders makes UK half way relevent. Chavis D is a burdon to LSU. I doubt he makes it 3 years there.

Of course, the freaking D was out there the whole game. They played aggressive... Look I am not a chavis fan but this was Crowton's problem.
