when was money taken from academics and given to the AD?
i don't post much here... but this is one of the most uninformed posts I have ever read here! From an academic side - I think alot of folks are happy with Cheek... and that is the only side that counts with respect to his job security.

Incorrect. He's pissing away money into some goofy programs and making some seriously head-scratching decisions on raises for administrators while increasing tuition around the board.
I only get mad at the people wanting him fired for thinking his job security depends solely on football. These are the people that think the University exists only for sports.
not sure about the "goofy programs"... but the majority of folks that I have contact with (and i readily admit... as a percentage of all faculty and staff, that is a small number) are happy to indifferent.
Goofy programs meaning he's got a plan with a relatively good intent (I suppose) to make UT a top-25 school- the way he's going about it and where he's putting money is weird (like a new UC when the old one was just renovated a few years ago; it needs to be replaced, but some other things need working on first).
Back when the new budget was released earlier in the year there was a lot of student frustration about Cheek signing off on bigger raises for himself and some administrators while cutting some faculty positions and increasing tuition.
I agree we should have a little poll on that topic.
The results will prove something... although probably not what you're thinking.
I want him gone cause he is sticking his nose in where it dont belong, in athletics, and making it harder for on the fence football players to get in, thus taking away quality athletes from the programs, and the fact that tennessee is only one of the few where the AD gives money to the university.
