UT is a state school and should be available to the masses, not just to the privileged few. Tuition and ACT scores continue to go up. If the school is supported by taxes, it should not try to be so exclusive, IMO.

In the grand scheme of the university Academics> athletics and it should be that way. However, as I student I'm quite pissed at Cheek for raising tuition every year I've been here (2 years). All the projects going on right now on campus: the new UC, new residence hall, taring down all those buildings at the corner of Cumberland and I think 16th, and other small things all over the place are good for the university in the long run but it's too much at once imo. The campus was already hard to get around on now it's a nightmare for walkers and drivers. Plus it's just ugly.
I am not sure Cheek can raise tuition. Doesn't the BOT have to approve that? Or, is it THEC?
are people seriously suggesting and buying into the notion that the Chancellor of a University should be fired for not finding the current state of a football program the most important facet of his responsibilities, not trying to find a balance representing the best overall interest of the university? smh....
