Chicago War Zone

If you are for small government and 2a, this is the right call.

Because of gun prohibition, the gun violence issue is worse, and naturally, people want to protect themselves. But if a cop catches them with a gun, they're in big trouble. Cops harass them for no reason, and they can't risk that, so if they have a gun, they run when they see a cop. The cop chases them, finds them with a gun, and then they pay the price. So people stop carrying guns and the gun violence gets worse as gang members are less worried about civilians having the ability to protect themselves.

We're all for 2a until it's black people who live in dangerous places, am I right?

Wouldn't a whole lot of this be predicated on the legality of the person carrying the weapon? Why would a person lawfully carrying run?

You can't lawfully carry in Chicago. We're talking about people who have lost their constitutional right to carry.

I am for our government to stop wasting our time and resources with tranny directives, targeting nicotine, and constantly making excuses for criminals.

All I ever hear is “You can walk and chew gum at the same time” when directives like this drop. Problem is, 800 murders in 2021. What is being done to address that?

We’re all for black lives mattering until it’s a black person taking another black persons life, am I right?

I fail to see what most of this has to do with what you responded to. What is a tranny directive and what does it have to do with 2a in Chicago? What is targeting nicotine? I'm literally talking about black people arming themselves to protect themselves, and you're saying their lives don't matter to me? These are the ramblings of a mad man.

Your AC goes out. It’s hot as balls outside. You got a buddy that works for a local heating and Air company. He agrees to come out and look at it for you.

You get home the next day and see him with a shovel in his hand. He tells you “Hey bud. Decided to plant a new tree in your yard. I just posted it all over social media too. You’re welcome”

You respond “Did you fix my AC? It’s 100 degrees today”

He says “No dude. I didn’t touch the AC. The tree. Did you see the tree?”

That’s our government. That’s my point.

This directive gives you the warm and fuzzies. That’s why they do it. To distract you from the fact they aren’t doing anything to truly address the problem. Easier to just blame the cops and make grand speeches about “Diversity and Equity”

Good. People in the inner city are scared of cops for good reason. The fact that they react to seeing a cop is not PC and that reasoning has undoubtedly been abused. Leave people alone unless you see them commit a real crime.

We just had cops kill a kid here in my city and the only reason for the chase was because he ran (technically, he was riding a bike). He ran because he had a gun and he was scared they would kill him. He tried to put some distance between them and tossed the gun so that they wouldn't shoot him. They still killed him. With his last dying breaths, he said "I threw the gun so you wouldn't shoot me" and the cop said, "That was stupid."

The cop is not being charged with anything. Good times.
He ran because he committed a felony. I saw that video. trying to defend his actions is silly. It’s not the police’s fault that someone commits felonies with weapons

“For no reason”. How about just not committing gun crimes? Is that hard

You think this is intended to distract from their problem with violence, LOL? That's a pretty stupid plan that will not work.

Regardless of whether or not they fix the homicide problem, cops should not be chasing people simply because people are trying to avoid them. I can promise you giving chase for unknown reasons isn't solving the homicide problem.

Man, I must've forgot about that. Still, they have the strictest gun laws. If you have a misdemeanor for getting in a scrap, you can't carry for 5 years. The same goes for a DUI. So the point remains. Their gun laws are too strict, and in combination with the war on drugs, it means Chicago is more dangerous, not safer.

I understand where you're coming from and have some sympathy for the observation but if gang violence is what it is there how is law enforcement going to differentiate between this illegally armed youth and that one? Is one a gang member and one not? Are both? Neither?

Believe me when I say I agree the policing aspect should be better. Given the current legal situation though it's a Scylla or Charybdis scenario between are youths running around with weapons something to be ignored or should there be an expectation of lawful carry? (and if it's the case I'm thinking of the incident you cited involved someone to young to be lawfully carrying a handgun anywhere)

Based on the statistics, if I were black and living in Chicago (or anywhere in America for that matter) I’d be running anytime I saw another black person, rather than running from the cops (regardless of their race).

What felony did he commit? He was getting stopped for not having a headlight on his bike. This is exactly the kind of ******** that the Chicago law would prevent. The city gave his family $1.1m, so I'm sure it was a justified killing. Even if you don't care about dead people, everybody loses when the taxpayer has to foot this kind of bill. Nobody can look at this and say "This is the way law enforcement and city government is supposed to work."

Would you run if you had a gun?

He was carrying a stolen firearm with intent to carry as a minor. This is not legal anywhere in the uS so quit acting like it should be ok. Complaining about police stopping people for traffic violations is one thing but trying to excuse someone who is committing a felony with a gun and then running from police which his actions led to him getting killed. Bad Choices have consequences. I’m not even saying this was a “bad” kid but he knew everything he was doing and did was wrong and illegal and dangerous

Run from who?

The cops? No. I respect our men and women in blue.

Run from the cops. That’s just silly. 😉

edit: Didn’t see the bold.

Run from black people. Nah. I’m white and slow.

But if you are 17 and can't get a CCL in IL and you live in a terrible neighborhood where you have repeatedly been the victim of violence, so you carry, and then you see a cop...do you avoid the cop?

They didn't know any of this when they shot him, so you can't use it to justify the way they engaged. It doesn't justify his death. It doesn't justify the taxpayer bill. 2 parties ****ed up, and literally everybody in the city lost except the cops. Please understand that no matter how you feel about anything that happened, the result is bad, and that's the point.

So I’m 17 and I decide to break the law by illegally carrying a firearm.

To run or not to run?

Im gonna go with option 3. Celebrate as bleeding heart cop hating liberal politicians tell the cops they aren’t allow to chase me when I run.

Go get a new pair of kicks. Keep committing crimes and wait for more directives that make it harder for cops to do their jobs.

Not surprised you avoided putting yourself in those shoes. Maintain cognitive dissonance at all costs.

The scenario you gave had me breaking the law lol.

Not just going over the speed limit. But illegally carrying a firearm.

In order to “put myself in those shoes” do I have to be constantly committing a criminal act? Is that what being black, or living in Chicago consist of?
