Chick-Fil-A President: Men shouldn't eat other men's chicken

Great. We will create a business culture where every owner is interviewed prior to opening a business and all his social opinions are aired prior to a referendum to decide if he can open said business. We also have to create a process for the scenario of an owner's social views changing after said business has already been up and running. Absolutely ridiculous. I fail to see where a person's freedom to spend their money as they please doesn't solve this.

I didn't say that it wouldn't solve this. I was merely retorting to your suggestion that it is unreasonable for certain people around the country to try and remedy this perceived problem via the legislative process. The former is more effiencent and more reasonable than the latter. However, citizens still reserve the right to do it via the latter process.

Well, I certainly disagree.

What part?

To the more efficient or more reasonable. In fact, I do not find it reasonable whatsoever. I find it absurd to turn this in to a legislative/political process due to the owner's opinion on a social issue. I am confident there are countless businesses operating already, by persons with all kinds of views that people would disagree with. It is entirely ludicrous. Of course, I come from a position that is more than ok with private businesses serving only who they want.

You misread my post. I was referring to the economic punishment as "efficient or more reasonable" than legislative action.

Well it's his right to believe as he believes. Though I don't agree, I don't fault him. Had CFA just yesterday. When you put opinions out there you open yourself to criticism. He is within his rights to think as he does. Just like the people who don't like it are within their rights to protest. His opinion on gay marriage doesn't bother me because just like gay marriage itself, it has nothing to do with me. So yay more waffle fries and lemonade for me.

That old liberal Tea Party Texas congressman Louie Gohmert is a good example.

Yep. Unfortunately we see plenty of hate on both sides which ultimately gets us nowhere. I was just thinking how this whole episode with Chick-Fil-A is not so different from the uproar from some ultra-conservatives over JC Penny/Ellen, Starbucks & the rainbow Oreo. What this really does is simply illustrate what a hot button issue this is - anything involving same sex marriage/gay rights seems to get blown up, right or wrong.

This Boston Mayor thing is amazing to me. What does he think his job is, exactly?
I'd like to see the reaction if a pro-life Mayor banned liberal musicians from performing in his city.

the amount of support I've seen on Facebook has been amazing for the reason you cite. apparently, it's ok to be intolerant of other people's beliefs as long as you marginalize them as "bigots" or "hate mongerers" or "homophobes."

Which is my problem, if you state your beliefs then you're labeled a homophobe. I am not a bigot I'm just going by how I was raised and that was marriage should be between a man and a woman.

so none of your beliefs have changed since you were a young child?

Ten years ago we wouldn't be having this conversation. What happened to change people's minds?

people realized everyone having the same access was probably a better route? Been happening for decades

Yes, they have but I still feel the same about same-sex marriage. There has to be a reason why a man and a man can't make a baby or a woman and a woman can't.

I'm not saying it's all because of this but since people are thinking in different mindsets America has gone downhill.

so can a man and a woman that can't (or choose not to) reproduce still be married? What's the point?

and you believe something like gay marriage to be a major contributor to this?

Our society has become more liberal, through the media and the education system. Traditional christian values are laughed at and mocked regularly in today's America. You're labeled a extremist just about anymore.

No, but reproduction is meant to be for man and woman which is most marriages. It's like that for a reason.

And no not gay marriage but just the way people have changed their thinking.

ok but you used reproduction as a reason gays can't marry. Why not assign the same to couples that can't or won't reproduce? They are no different than a homosexual couple in that regard right?

are you married? Would gays marrying change your marriage in any way?

You're missing the point. It's not meant to be. If a straight couple don't want kids that fine. Most people marry to start a family and you can't naturally do that if you're a homo couple. If they don't want kids, ok, but what's the point in getting married? Attention? Just saying look we're gay, we're special?
