WOW... four drones really cost that much?

Taiwan agrees to buy four American-made naval surveillance drones for $555 million

2025??? The Iranians or Chinese could have them sent out next week at a fraction of the price.

Why would Taiwan want drones from Iran or China?

If I'm a foreign policy maker then I'm producing and supplying Taiwan with as much as they are willing and able to buy. This way we avoid what has happened in Ukraine - a country with a leader looking for free handouts.

Thanks to the foresight of Trump and the Republican administration the USMCA is going to assist in this area. With free market capitalism, labor is cheaper in NA, Cent. America, and SA versus China so companies are in the process of moving closer to the NA market to shorten supply lines and avoiding the security entanglements of Asia.
So it is OK to kill jobs here in America because they want too much pay?

Common sense would be that the US labor market finally realizes their competition isn't literally next door or in another state. US labor's competition has been in Asia and other parts of the world (like Mexico) for a very long time. I can't decide if organized labor was just too damn stupid to figure it out, to selfish/greedy to consider possibilities, or actively working against this country ... or a combination. You put your house on the market at twice what your neighbor is selling a comparable house, and you'll lose every time.

Chinese labor costs have risen but they're nowhere near ours. And they've still got their slave labor camps going.
The political situation has made a PRC supply chain riskier though, so we're seeing some companies shift their manufacturing.

Because we sent our industry overseas and de-industrialized ourselves. Organized labor here played a part, but DC and Wall St turned us into a Starbucks/Netflix/AirBnB economy.

Again... 4 drones @ half a billion dollars?

The fallout from potentially getting our ass kicked by China will be devastating and demoralizing for our country.
