Carrie Symonds 'is definitely behind' Boris's outburst against the 'demented' Chinese': Tories rage against PM's fiancée - who has campaigned against selling Pangolin 'sex aid' meat – after Johnson said it was to blame for Covid

Boris Johnson has come under fire from his own party for publicly shaming China's use of traditional medicine and blaming the 'demented' practice of harvesting pangolin scales for causing coronavirus.

In an environmental speech to world leaders yesterday Mr Johnson tore into people who 'grind up the scales of a pangolin' in a bid to become more 'potent' - a thinly veiled attack on Chinese remedies.

Ms Symonds has been vocal in her opposition to wet markets, where the animals are sold, gaining praise from Peta as it announced her as one of its most influential activists of 2020

Mr Johnson made the remarks in a virtual speech to the One Planet Summit, hosted by France's President Macron, citing the illegal trade in the scaly anteater-like creatures.

They are widely used in Chinese medicine and their trafficking has been blamed for transmitting the virus from bats found in the wild to humans.

The first documented cases of the Covid-19 were in the Chinese city of Wuhan, with a wet market trading in exotic animals being seen as the probable source.

China locks down a third city near Beijing and moves 20,000 residents from new COVID-19 epicentre to isolation centres amid fresh coronavirus outbreak

China has sealed off a third city and moved 20,000 residents to isolation centres as the country fights against a fresh coronavirus outbreak.

Chinese authorities locked down the city of Langfang in Hebei Province near Beijing on Tuesday, putting its 4.9million residents under quarantine for seven days while conducting mass COVID-19 testing.

More than 20,000 villagers in Hebei city Shijiazhuang have been forced to leave their homes and sent to designated isolation facilities since yesterday as footage shows flocks of people standing on the streets carrying suitcases, waiting to be transported.

INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER

Former California Sen. Barbara Boxer has registered as a foreign agent for Hikvision USA, the American subsidiary of a Chinese surveillance company that has been blacklisted by the U.S. government.

Boxer, a Democrat, registered the work through Mercury Public Affairs, the prominent lobbying firm that she joined as a consultant early last year.

Boxer’s registration form, filed through the Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, says she will be “providing strategic counsel” to Hikvision, which produces surveillance equipment for the Chinese government and Chinese military.

I liked Trump stance on China.
But why should USA meddle between them and Tawain? What should Biden do about that, exactly?

Say the US doesn’t meddle with them when it comes to Taiwan, what do we do when China wants other islands or God forbid Japan or aspirations of Australia?
