China Threatens War With The U.S.

A war with China would be costly in both lives and treasure.

A war with China would be the end of humanity, they're not willing to end their new found prosperity to get in a war with us. Once we quit feeding them our technology they'll return to their old ways of being typical group think Asians that can't innovate, they can only copy. Look at Japan if you want an example.

I still believe within the next decade out forces will wind up in a shooting exchange with China in the South China Sea. Then while that is going on if China moves on Taiwan things will escalate very very quickly.

I don't understand why what goes on in the South China Sea or Taiwan is any of our business.

I didn’t say it was Ras. But our forces are continually in close proximity with the show of force stuff. Just like the recent near collision with one of our destroyers doing a freedom of navigation exercise.

I’d guess we’re there as an ally of Japan. Just speculating don’t realky know.
we have a defense treaty with Taiwan. Still protecting Japan, S. Korea still has us there, but that may be fraying. Philippines are closely tied to us and the Vietnamese and some of those other S. China Seas nations have requested us to be there. I know several of the nations have extended/expanded our right to use their docking facilities for our military ships. Everyone but the Chinese wants us there, and since we have a formal right to be there the Chinese can shove off.

Don't ask Ras, he still thinks anything in the South China Sea is Chinese by default since, well, it's named the South China Sea.

How dare the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei and Malaysia park their countries right next to it!

And they’re actually terra forming islands where none existed in order to extend their national boundaries. It’s an expansionist land/sea grab plain and simple. And we do not acknowledge it.

It’s driven by the natural resources including fishing in the area that many countries presently use and share since they are international waters currently I believe?

So, who gets to claim the Yellow Sea?

And is that racist?

The United States is making more of a stink about China getting about 9 out of 50+ islands than Malaysia, Vietnam or Philippines are doing.

Or driven by trade routes within the region. The South China Sea and Straits of Malacca are a major trade route for Chinese exports and energy imports.

My question is, in an all-out war with China, would another adversary like Russia seize the opportunity and attack in the Baltics?
