What you can do is to heat the gas to make it expand. Same mass takes up more volume creates more lift. Think it was Archimedes who first identified the buoyancy effect. Heating up helium is safe enough but hydrogen? I do that in my catalyst lab, but folks “don’t try this at home”.

I’m willing to be they are utterly humiliated to have this revealed and are panicking about the diplomatic responses they have to come up with when similar instances of this are revealed in other countries.

Interestingly enough, I used to think that a remote controlled tiny blimp would have been a great assest to hover over opposing SEC football teams’ practice sessions and film everything.
