Chris Benoit was one of the last people in wrestling that I could ever imagine doing this. He seemed like one of the "normal" ones to me. I am still in shock over this. It's such a bad situtaion. His 7 year old son in the middle of it is what gets me the most. It just doesn't make sense.

My dad just called and told me Fox News is reporting he strangled his wife smothered his kid and then hung himself all on seperate days they think. Truely sad.

This same article mentioned that steroids could possibly be involved with what happened...
i think that was speculation at this point, but they did say that toxicology tests will be done, but not completed for a few weeks......

FOX said that his son was found in his room and Beniot was found in the weight room, apparently after hanging himself. I dont remember where they said his wife was found.

I know this may sound weird, but I really hope Benoit didn't do this. I hope something else happened to them.

His wife was in an office in the house.

I felt sorry for him last night, but right now I am po'd. How can anyone hurt a child, much less your own? I still can't believe that this happened. I am having mixed emotions, sadness and anger.

I know that it isn't confirmed that this was the reason behind it, but it would not surprise me if it turned out that it was. I have seen for myself what steroids do to people and it turns them into monsters. The anger, depression, and paranoia that comes with taking steroids is toxic to anyone around the person taking them.

If it turns out that steroids was the reason for him freaking out and doing this, it will be yet another wake-up call for the WWE. Something needs to be done about all of these wrestlers dying.

I'd be pretty surprised if Benoit wasn't on some sort of performance enhancing drug. If not steroids, than maybe growth hormone. He was just in too good of shape to be 40 years old. At that age, I just don't think he'd have the metabolism to be as ripped as he was. Growth hormone isn't associated with rage, or any other psychological problems, as far as I know.

I would think a tragedy of this magnitude would definitely be cause for change if in fact such drugs really are involved.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but this story makes it sound like WWE knew some the details about the death prior to airing the tribute.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that the organization asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."
The WWE also announced that Benoit failed to appear at a Saturday live event in Beaumont, Texas, as well as the WWE's "Vengeance" event in Houston Sunday night, an absence attributed to a "family emergency."

The WWE also reported that it was in possession of further information regarding the police investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff's Department has requested that the pro wrestling organization not release additional details at this time.

I don't know Bham, the bodies were discovered 2:30p Monday. Not a lot of time to make an editorial decision about how to approach a national broadcast that evening. Just not enough answers. I did not see how they handled the news on the show. I think I would have acknowledged the tragedy and held off on saying anymore.

Certainly depends on the facts - if they did know or believe that he was responsible; the tribute was a bad call. If they didn't know, then that's another story.

If you don't know the facts then you proceed on the side of caution. They have endless hours of some sorry reruns they could have aired. They went full bore into adoration mode.

:hi:

Back on topic, how could you smother your own child?

Makes no sense to me. You can see a spouse in a fit of passion or rage, but a child? It was almost like it was premeditated with him doing it on separate days.
