if guy was doing drugs and died of it or died of suicide, he's a selfish idiot. once of the best voices in rock. I do know he mocked God and Christ in his songs, he's now face to face with who he mocked.

Come on man. For good or bad, this mans music was a part of my life, and as such is a part of who I am. I'm not the nihilistic, destructive blasphemer I was in my 20s now, ONLY through the beautiful mercy and amazing grace of God. It makes me sad that others don't find that. Like you said, he will face God now, but he will not be judged on your terms. It only took the thief a sincere moment of humble repentance to clear a lifetime of sin.

He's such a good Christian man he's trash talking a guy that just died and judging him with no knowledge of what happened or what mental state he was in.

God's so lucky to have that guy representing him.

I'm as big a bible thumper this board has, but you are a total douchebag. I've covered several Cornell songs as he had a great way of writing about death and life.

Sometimes our righteous zeal, and love of God gets the better of us. It certainly did three men who followed Jesus, they turned out pretty well. Peter loved Jesus so much, and wanted to protect him so much he tried to cut a mans head off. Jesus rebuked him, and set him straight..Put up thy sword again into it's place, for all those that take the sword, shall perish with the sword. Another time James and John became so angry at town of people who they felt had slighted Jesus, that they asked him if they should call down fire from Heaven and destroy them. Once again he rebuked their natural anger telling them..Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of, for the son of man is not come to destroy mens lives, but to save them...Sometimes we all do this, it is difficult not to. But as long as there is breath, there is hope for us to become better.

Or maybe he's just a douchebag.

This is shocking and hurts me more than news like this usually does. Soundgarden is still my all time favorite band... While at a student at UT from '92-'96, practically all I listened to was Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, Down on the Upside and the Temple of the Dog album which featured Hunger Strike - the duet with Vedder. I saw Soundgarden in Atlanta with my then girlfriend in '96... Chris had the best voice ever... not close, imo. He had such vocal range. Expertly controlled wails which expressed both anger and pain at the same time. I loved the lyrics of the songs on Superunknown - especially 'The Day I Tried to Live'... Unbelievable.

Preach it. A Christian should never revel in the fact that someone may be going to hell. I say "may" because we really don't know Cornell's personal life or convictions at the time of his death.

Fwiw, Chris was once a roommate with Andy Wood of Mother Love Bone (replaced by Vedder - became Pearl Jam). The lead vocalists of the Seattle big 4 are all dead now...

By that logic no one can ever say anyone else is doing anything wrong.

No. What I'm pointing out is you're acting all high and mighty while pointing your finger at Joe for doing the same thing. It's human nature.

Anyway, here's a video of Soundgarden's final show. Chris looks completely out of it. He must have been on something. https://youtu.be/PanqKiinIUs
