Terrible news. Saw Soundgarden a couple of weeks ago here in Jacksonville and it was a blast from the past. Had one of the best rock voices ever. Can't believe it.

It was apparently a suicide. Wow. It's been a while but I do remember him giving an interview where he said he would never understand why Kurt Cobain committed suicide. I guess things change.

So based on your own logic, you're getting high and mighty by telling me I'm getting high and mighty.

I said we are all hypocrites and made that quite clear. Apparently you have magic abilities though and are not subject to human nature thereby excluding you from being a said hypocrite. I bet you are the most amazing person ever.

So it's officially ruled suicide by hanging. That's sad. The guy had everything to live for.

Just goes to show you that depression is no joke. Doesn't matter how rich or famous you are depression can make you feel like you have no hope and no reason to live.

Depression is a *****. You can be surrounded by people that care about you and still feel all alone.

Music has a way of marking times in your life... For me, the songs off Soundgarden's 'Superunknown', Alice In Chains' 'Dirt' and Pearl Jam's 'Ten' takes me back to college at UT and some of the best times of my life. This is not only sad, it makes me feel old.

I just text my 14 year old daughter that he had died... She said, "Who is that?" She is grounded for a week.

if guy was doing drugs and died of it or died of suicide, he's a selfish idiot. once of the best voices in rock. I do know he mocked God and Christ in his songs, he's now face to face with who he mocked.

I'm not sure that he ever mocked God or Christ in his songs. If you're talking about "Jesus Christ Pose", that song was about entertainers who got a god-complex.

In any event, his meeting with God is between he and God. For anyone to take their own life, they have to have been tormented in ways I can't imagine. Having loved ones who suffer with depression and thoughts of self-harm, my tendency is to have great empathy and heartbreak for them.

My hope is that his meeting with God will prove to surprise some people.

Not that it means anything... but he recorded a version of "Ave Maria" which is available on youtube. Like most of his songs, it really shows the power of his vocals.

After decades, I will admit this. When I was in bands, he is the main front man that I emulated. Voice, stage presence... He defined for me what a front man should be, and what I aspired to be at the time.

May his soul rest.

We have lost so many brillant rock voices that rose to fame in the 90s. Cobain, Staley, Weiland, Steele, and now Chris Cornell. I'm at a loss for words.
RIP Hoss
