Just look up the selection committee. 2/3 of them are active athletic directors. Including UK and Michigan.

By design they include individuals not directly involved with schools/conferences under direct consideration of slots. Supposedly the vetting process for the panel is quite rigorous.

It was Todd Blackledge and Brad Nessler. After the game they didn't realize the camera and mics were still on and proceeded to act disappointed that Pitt lost and UT won, specifically how they missed the opportunity for a storybook ending. They hid their bias well during the game though.

Almost every game this year the broadcasters seemed to be pulling against us. Even last week they wanted us to take a knee at the goal line. Then proceeded to talk about how Missouri coach was gonna put that in the back of his brain for next year...
