Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling the game

They are both tools. Not calling them a name just stating the obvious. Don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. They both love the Vols so much. Go Vols beat the Gamecocks.

I actually think Herbstreit likes Tennessee, just not a lot of the fans. I remember he'd be on the radio here in the 90's glowing about Tennessee. Fowler, is another story, but I could not care less if those guys like Tennessee or not. The way it usually goes is, if a team is playing well, that team gets spoken of favorably. I think many times a team is getting hammered or looks bad and there isn't much to say about them that's positive, and fans get mad. Not speaking of Tennessee, but that's been my observation in general with sports.
Herbstreet loves football period. He’s majorly biased towards the big ten but he loves a lot of the traditions and fans. Fowler just seems to loathe Tennessee and their fans for whatever reason.

Accurate. I don’t expect guys to try to act like they don’t have more love for the place or conference they played. I think that’s almost pandering to do that, because we all know how we as people are wired and I couldn’t be unbiased. What I would try to do is turn it off when the camera is on. I think Herbstreit does a decent job of that. I’ve never found him to be unwatchable. If anything, I think he often does pander too much.

Good. I got to hear Herbie be forced to watch my Titans win last night, and tomorrow he will be forced to watch us score 50.

This can either help our case tremendously or hurt our case tremendously. No matter right, wrong, fair, etc. Both of these guys are on the CFP selection show and if they choose to pump UT and say that we are a top 4 team and we should be in makes way too much of a difference but it does. If Fowler and Kirk push 2 loss LSU, 1 loss USC, or 1 loss OSU/Mich for 4 hours, it will unfortunately be put into the subconscious of most viewers and that includes human beings on the actual joke of a committee. Just my two cents.

Side note- How does the AD of Michigan get on said committee. Can we not have Danny White be the tie breaking vote if it comes down to it? Is there really an algorithm to this or is it just who this committee picks the day after the conference championships are over?
Tennessee and Clemson will have USCe game in common, which may be a point of comparison for CFP Committee. So get off to an early lead and run up the score tomorrow.

I thought Bob Wischusen and Dan Orlovsky did a good job with the LSU game. The VOLS kicking the sh** out of the Tiger is probably making the memory more pleasant though. 🤣🤣🤣
I find I can enjoy just about any announcers when we are dominating our opponent.

Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling the game.

Like it or not, these two are the face of college football, after Gary Danielson of course. Personally, I think GameDay came to KnoxVegas twice this year to broadcast UT losing but, not so fast, not so fast!!

All this notoriety is going to make for a killer finish to our Class of 23 and put us into orbit for the Class of 24. I have NO TROUBLE whatsoever with Fowler and Herbstreit calling the game. If HH4H has a solid or solid+ game, they are bound to give him praise for sure. But the spotlight is once again on US, the UT Vols, and honestly, who the hell would have ever thought in August that ESPN would be giving us (another) Prime Time slot on a Saturday night in late November with their two best college pontificators calling The Gamecocks game?? Anyone?????????????

Can we get Sean McDonough back with Nessler(i think)? Those guys is my favorites. Fabulous for Pitt this yr. Great calls and no stupid innuendo.

McDonough works with Todd Blackledge, who is godawful. Maybe the most clueless color guy working today.

I particularly enjoyed Keith "Al-Ah-Bama!!" Jackson being a camera hogging prima donna the 4th quarter of the 1998 NC game pretending to retire.

I wanted to jump through the set and kick his fat redneck ass. One of the greatest moments in UT football history, and this a-hole is celebrating himself and his fake retirement. My announcing #1 pet peeve is when they inject themselves into the broadcast, and the two main culprits were Jackson and the bloated Verne Lundquist, who was the worst of all.

Herbstriet couldn't stop gushing about the great college football setting here at Neyland and the passion of the fan base last time he was here. Fowler, who knows?

We don't need Fowler or Herbstreit to make the case for us. We have to make our case on the field. Continue to showcase our explosive offense and shut down our last two opponents. If we do this, we could end the season with an average win differential of around 30 points.

Once saw Herbie get into a car with Knoxville coeds, on the strip. This was in early 2000's.

Kinda douchey. Granted id have done the same back then.

Weird thing is, that was the Kentucky game I think. Crowd about 1/3 the loudness of the Bama game. I don't know if another stadium could top the loudness of Oct. 15. Kirk, glad you thought it was electric, but you missed it against Bama.
