Chris Ledlum Enters the Transfer Portal

May be in the minority but the minutes were going to be a problem this year. Hopefully this means the freshmen/sophomores have more opportunities to develop and likely stay instead of transferring.
I couldn't agree more. Give the freshmen more minutes early on so they will be ready for the NCAA tournament. There is so much young talent on this team.

That’s certainly a good possibility, but I still put more stock into what we’ve seen him do in real life college basketball games than assumptions made from transfer decisons, well reasoned or not, on his performance in practice. And he looked like a player to me. I get it’s the Ivy League and not the SEC, but it’s not like the Ivy League is complete garbage either. I’m not saying he’d put up 19 here but I expected him to be a really solid contributor, and it’s a bummer he’s gone. I hope one of Knecht or Mashack can hold up at the 4 for long stretches, bc I’d worry about relying too much on JJJ (health), Tobe (non-shooter), DJ Jefferson, or Estrella (freshman) to do so. I love Jahmai’s game so bummed as I am about Ledlum leaving I’m excited too to see Shack get more on his plate

I too was looking forward to what he can do and I am bummed as well we will not get to see it. We have a very crowded roster which imo has to be daunting to any newcomer looking for big-time minutes

Which is why I'm not that broken up over his departure. Guy saw what the deck looked like and didn't feel he could be prominent given the level of competition. Barring another injury plagued season from JJJ or another forward, I'm not thinking we'll miss him all that much.

I think Mashack and Jefferson see major minutes this upcoming season.

I have little doubt that Jahmai will be a key contributor. Especially with his defense. But he only has 2 years left.

DJ is going to have to battle for minutes. He’ll be an important piece in 2 years along with Tobe, Freddie, and the 3 true freshmen.

There’s been some talk that Freddie might not be around that long, but if he’s that good I don’t think any of us will complain.

Regarding 'wanting to get back closer to home' I talked to Ledlum at youth basketball camp and mentioned that I'm a fellow New Yorker and also went to school in Mass. He asked me what I thought of Knoxville and said it was definitely different, so maybe he wasn't feeling it. Had a similar conversation with Awaka a year ago, it is an adjustment for players coming from NY.

Bernard King seemed to have adjusted well
