And losing Ledlum sucks because he actually had two years of eligibility remaining and no risk of leaving for the draft. Sight unseen, and it's perhaps a bit risky, but I think I'd rather take my chances of having him for 2 years than JJJ for 1 even knowing what we have in JJJ. Too much injury risk with him.
JJJ averaged 10 pts and almost 2 ast last year. How many did you expect from Ledlum?Unless you count intangibles, JJJ didn't appear to offer the upside that Ledlum did on offense. Unless JJJ shows the best of himself, he is a low volume scorer who is unreliable on the offensive end.
I still see this as a rush to judgment why Ledlum left, but count me in as disappointed and I was looking forward to potentially new offensive punch.
Sometimes it isn’t the number of pts you score but how you score. Ledlum may have been a guy who could potentially get the ball in the paint and score and/or get fouled and go to the FT line. If we don’t have anyone who can consistently score in the paint our perimeter players will be less effective. I think the only guy we have to feed the post now is Awaka. Not really Aidoo’s game. Maybe Estrella but he is young. Perhaps Knecht is flexible enough to score at every level but he isn’t a banger. Definitely not something JJJ does. When in paint he seems to be exclusively a turnaround fade away jump shooter. Barnes needs to embrace small ball this year.JJJ averaged 10 pts and almost 2 ast last year. How many did you expect from Ledlum?
I didn't have any expectations but clearly he was a guy capable of giving 19 a night. The Harvard I saw in the tournament had talent and was good.
Cmon, this is classic “Didn’t want him anyway” when a recruit goes elsewhere. Every summer report is glowing about every player until they leave, then suddenly we find out they’re struggling. This will not compute for the segment of posters who have been building him up as a double-double guy before he ever even played a game for us
Harvard didn’t make the postseason and hasn’t since 2019 at which time Ledlum wasn’t even on their roster…
I hope the 19 was a type-o and you really meant 10. 19 per night in the Ivy League doesn’t translate to 19 per night in the SEC. I don’t disagree that he would have been a nice piece to have, but he would have been splitting minutes with JJJ, Mashack, and Jefferson.
You need to do us a solid and say "Great!" You can understand chemistry but not this? We're going to have to send you to social interaction lab.Regarding 'wanting to get back closer to home' I talked to Ledlum at youth basketball camp and mentioned that I'm a fellow New Yorker and also went to school in Mass. He asked me what I thought of Knoxville and said it was definitely different, so maybe he wasn't feeling it. Had a similar conversation with Awaka a year ago, it is an adjustment for players coming from NY.
You're sure? The Kentucky game must have been the only one you watchedMy bad. I got Princeton mixed up with Harvard.
We don't know how the 19 points would translate because I'm sure Harvard has some players that could get 19 points last year on us. Heck Kentucky was a bad team and their shooters lit us up.
