I was listening to 104 here in Nashville about 30-45 minutes ago and someone on a business trip in Louisville called in and said a local radio show reported the offer was made and it was for $3.75 Million at five years. The only reason not annouced tonight is PF is being inducted. Look for the offical one tomorrow.

Also the announcers felt Strong would take it and the current situation with Chaney, Graham and Pitman may make it eassier for Strong to keep the offensive side intact and just find a DC. They think Gundy might be playing all sides in a Power Play to get more for himself, better facilities and better assistant pay.

Can't do anything to do with him doing well in the crappy big east. Lost 2 games. Louisville was no where near the dumpster fire tha UT was in. So using a no pressure rebuild and an automatic BCS bid for the cappiest conference there is is not something impressive. But of course it's a race thing....

He came in to Louisville and they had NO talent. None.

And he's made drastic improvements to their defense every year since his arrival.

I have looked at Louisville prior to his arrival... and everyone else should too. They had three mediocre seasons under Steve Kragthorpe. However, for 8 years prior to that Bobby Petrino had an overall record of 41 - 9 and John L. Smith had a record of 41 - 21... both of these were better than Strong's current performance in his three years.

And in terms of his getting to the BCS this year, please take a look at the teams he has played!!! Congrats... he won his league and got the automatic bid. And in the process he finished 10 - 2, didn't beat a single team in the top 25, and 4 of those 10 wins were by an average of 3 points. Not that impressive when you look at who they played. And his amazing defense, as I hear many poster brag about, is giving up nearly 24 points a game against a very weak schedule.

CCS may be a great guy, and I couldn't care less what color his skin is, but if this is the best UT can bring in as a coach then I will be disappointed in the hire. If he's hired I will cheer him on and hope he proves me wrong, but my initial reaction is not overly impressed.

Is it still racist if I think his race will be a benefit to the program. I think I actually like the hire. He has plenty of SEC experience and players play hard for him. Not the "home run" name, but I honestly don't think there was one out there that would have made a move. To blindly say Fedora or Gundy would have been better is absurd. Only time will tell.

the time he has spent in the sec will pay off.he will get better talent here because this is the sec he was in the big east.this will be a good hire he knows the south hes got connections in florida south carolina i like it.give the man a chance

Lets see...10-2 against opponents whose combined record is 57-81....a BCS Bowl only bc their league has an auto berth...and it is a very week league...they are the only team ranked....and his defense ranks 25th against opponents offensive ranking of 63rd.....only played 1 team with an offensive ranking in the top 30....guess who? That's right Syracuse, who totally beat the crap out them.....

I don't care if he is black white or green red or pink. Louisville is 42 in recruiting in the nation that's top 50 at Louisville!!!!!!!!!What is their to sell to a recruit look at all UT has to offer if he cans sell Louisville just think what he can do at UT

Tressel won at a school with SEC level resources and generally speaking ACC level competition. He had a home state with a great talent base. The Big 10 has actually improved a little over the past couple of years.... but it was a top heavy conference for most of Tressel's tenure with the bottom being really, really bad.


Tressel is one of the weaker candidates anyone has mentioned and he comes with baggage. That's likely why he's not being considered.

black, white, blue, green....shouldnt matter what he looks like! a true vol fan doesnt care, as long good with our program. alot of judging of strong before he evens runs thru the "T"
