CJH at Crossroads

The majority of fans are NOT students and do not care about social media. They want results through reputable methods. Are you living in the newspaper, broadcast tv and land line phone age? The $500 per game seat ticket price is paid primarily by loyal Vol fans...NOT students. If I wish to continue to pay that much to see a game, rest assured I'm going to find out what happened...through players, board member contacts or other sources. I refuse to support or follow a team that hides information from its fan base. Integrity and open communication mean something. I refused to follow or support the team under Pruitt because I knew he was sketch under Saban. Go figure. The truth will be revealed through Heup's actions, player comments or staff leaks. I want nothing but the best for the UT athletics department especially the football program.
people I tailgate with, went to school with in 1998 NC year, majority couldn’t recognize James Banks if he walked in the room. The ones who need to know, if you don’t know…it ain’t you or me. Somehow fans got into this entitlement that they are owed something. Coach’s responsibility is to protect his players/coaches. For your ticket loss their will be two more ready to buy.

We were greatly overrated and played like we believed our press clippings. Maybe uga and bama can roll the ball out on the road and win with 75% effort, but this team can't. It has to be 100% and for a full 4 quarters. Now that the bubble has burst and after witnessing that debacle last night, it has to be clear to any sane, reasonable fan that this team has over achieved. This is a 7-8 win roster at best.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, I'm just confused because I've been told you are what your record us.

Will he say... we just need a few more players and make some adjustments to D. Or will he say it's completely unacceptable to be where we were in the rankings and then have 63pts put on us by a bad qb and mediocre team. It seems clear this is not a championship level D-staff.

Put down the crack, he needs a couple of changes on defense not rethink his entire coaching philosophy

I violently agree with your last sentence. If he is truly sincere about building a program that competes for championships, then he knows he needs to make some tough decisions moving forward. I don’t believe him to be a dummy. At a minimum, Martinez needs to go. If we then present the same porous secondary next year and lose a few games because of the same problems we’ve seen this season, the end of the honeymoon might begin.

The dude gets a huge benefit of the doubt because of what he did this year. But he knows as well as us that we have nowhere near a championship-level defense at this point. Nobody can claim with a straight face that we’re even close. How many of us right now would swap our secondary with the SC secondary who outplayed us yesterday? Or with GA’s secondary? I would. Ours is not an SEC-quality secondary: in passing yards allowed, we rank 130th out of 131 FBS teams. This is embarrassing and unacceptable. And that’s just one metric. I am sure that our secondary ranks near the bottom of every statistical metric that matters.

Something fundamental needs to change in a hurry.

Wait it’s not an elite championship level D-staff in year 2 after what Prutii left us??? Man that’s news. I didn’t know that. Dude get a grip. It doesn’t matter what Heupel says. It matters more on what he does to fix it.

If a playoff berth isn’t important to these players, that is more embarrassing than losing 65-38.

And that's what worries me. Face it, for 90% of these players their career is over the second they take off their Vol uniform for the last time.

To have everything you ever hoped and dreamed for in front of you in late November-and then throw it away?

This hurts as a fan. Can you imagine some of these guys fifteen years from now waking up every night knowing they threw it away on locker room bs and ego?

I made a comment in the game thread meltdown last night that I didn't care if we won or lost-,as long as we played our game. Quite frankly, I knew it was over during our second (I think) drive when we started delaying our own offense. A few plays there where we barely even got the ball snapped in time. Gave SC time to adjust and catch their breath. We end up punting, and within a minute we are down 21-7

Two games now when have pulled that crap early-GA and SC. It's just not us-or maybe it is and the other 9 games were the exception.

If you're gonna go down, at least give them both barrels. None of this pop gun crap. No. That's a Botch or Pruitt move and therefore is doomed to failure.

Utterly disgusting on all sides.

You cant win a championship without a solid defense. I don’t care how good their offense is. Hopefully coach will build this defense up. If he doesn’t, their not going to win a championship.

One defensive player being out should not have resulted In something like this. This falls on the coaches.

Players don't coach and coaches don't play. Coaches are not responsible for player execution and players are not responsible for coaches player development. Hats off to every college football staff trying to navigate 85 different player personalities, egos and skill sets. I certainly couldn't do it. Few college football staffs can.

Agreed. But TN never showed up.

We need Heup's 4 and 5 star recruiting magic in the next 2 years to compete.

We could be 5-5 or 4-6 and the defense we saw Saturday would still be unacceptable. Sal Sunseri never gave up that many. Historic embarrassment and even worse given the level of the competition.

SC had a better win than we did vs Bama/Fl/LSU. None of those were a record setting win as an unranked vs ranked (#5 no less). Anybody want to split a room at the Mayo Bowl?
Keep trolling, trolling, trolling

reality SoCar has a history of breaking other people’s seasons. that’s all they have. Never been champions and never will be.
