Class Ranking Prediction

15TH at a happy medium but DW would move us up. Feeling that Pruitt won't fill the class up on ESD and not even in Feb. He's saving room for a transfer,(WR,LB), imo. Funny how the transfer rule works. Goes by the year the recruit first signed compared to how many recruits you have lost pertaining to that year. Gibbs counts against our'16 class ie....but I may have the year wrong.

14 on 247 but 8 on rivals considering every 4 star player we get is a 4 star over there and not 247

For the 2nd time, we all effing know that guys. We are predicting our finish to recruiting and not anyone else’s. Why is that so hard to comprehend
Well then use the points, say I think we end up around 290 on the composite or something like that, not "we'll be No. 6 if we get X, Y, and Z", because, no we won't.

Bruh, I literally added the numbers and point totals in my first post about this. Go read through the thread and then come back to me. Ffs

The wailing and gnashing of teeth has to stop. Look, we all got our hopes up with what seemed like a fair amount of traction with Sav’ell Smalls, Noah Sewell, Tate Ratledge, Arik Gilbert, Jay Hardy, and others early on and then the decommitments of BJ Ojulari and Mordecai McDaniel have further taken the wind out of our sails. But, I think it’s a credit to the staff how we were in fighting position with the best programs in the country for elite recruits and we, admittedly, lost ground after a horrific start (which the staff also recovered from and finished strong) and the complete meltdown that Ratledge, a kid who lives in Georgia and was committed to UGA, decided to stick with his commitment despite Pittman leaving.

Where we are as a program was UT was looking up at UGA, UF, Missouri USCe and UK just in the East (and had lost to Vandy three years in a row). Well, we are looking down at all but UGA and UF now. I think there are cracks showing in Kirby’s program and I think Mullen is a great coach but poor recruiter. Just as one example, UF’s class is higher ranked than ours but look at how many DBs are in that class. A recruiting class needs to address needs and cannot be too heavy on any one position group. Do you remember when Dooley went a whole class without an OL and the consequences that wrought? I like our class (and potential class) better than UF’s due to it addressing across the board needs.

In sum, last year’s class was pretty darn good. This one is shaping up to be pretty good too. I’m not sure why anyone is crying about a potentially program changing QB in Harrison Bailey, a DL class of Omari Thomas, Dominic Bailey, and Tyler Baron (who I expect will be part of the class and will either be a DE or OLB) and we still have a shot at Jay Hardy (probably not a great one though), a LB class of Bryson Eason, Martavius French, and Tamarion McDonald and a good shot to add Morven Joseph (who I think Pruitt coveted from the start) and Khari Coleman (who appears to be a solid addition), and a DB class of Keshawn Lawrence and Doneiko Slaughter. In addition, we added some maulers on the OL (and keep in mind that OGs are poorly ranked every year) and some solid RBs and WRs. We have a chance to add a true stud in TE Darnell Washington.

My prediction is we close the ESD with Washington, Baron, Whitehead, Joseph, and Coleman and that gets us to 23. We will save a couple spots to really dig in on 3-5 uncommitted prospects to fill in the gaps with the last two spots. I also think 2021 will be a better class than 2020 on paper and in actuality.

15, not acceptable
Trying hard not to pre judge, bc this staff develops so well. Ill reserve total critique till after 2nd NSD.

If, after all the ink is dry...we hit that number. Considering what this staff has as recruiters, and, who we had on the hook. I would agree. Anything less than top 12 would be considered a let down.

Granted the true measure of judgement happens on draft day 3 years later.

add Baron, Whitehead, Oxendine, Washington, and M. Joseph and that gets us up to around a 259.75 score on 24/7, that would put us around 11th In the rankings with 23 commits, Not taking into account what other Teams add or lose though.

If I had a gun to my head though, I’d guess we finish between 10-15 nationally. And 5-7 in the SEC, 5th being a reach though I believe

Excellent post. Some people have built an extremely illogical and silly opinions on recruiting. They assume that because we are Tennessee, we should just magically land top 10 classes regardless of the situations. They believe that because we spend good money on the coaching staff, that should equate to top 10 classes. Those people are stuck in the past.

They will not take a good hard look at where our program actually was/is. People say Dooley recruited well so should Pruitt. Of course that would be very convenient without looking deeper. When Dooley took over he took over for Kiffin. He was the one who built the relationships that led to Dooleys recruiting success. Also, Fuller hadn’t been gone very long,

In walks Botch Jones. Now on the face of it, Botch did a good job. Everyone rants and raves about his 2014 and 2015 classes being ranked so high. Again another convenient excuse to use against Pruitt. But looking at it, Botch brought in 32 guys that year. If he were only able to sign 25, things would have been much different. 2015 class was 30 guys. Again same as 2014. Botch got significantly worse in his last 2 seasons. He truly drove this program into a ditch. Becoming the first HC in TN history to lose 8 games. Players became lazy and careless. It was clearly evident by anyone with half a brain cell.

In walks first time HC Pruitt. He walks into a small, underdeveloped, undisciplined lazy roster who is complacent with losing. So he had to follow the worst season in school HISTORY in year one. Something no head coach in school HISTORY had to deal with. Yet some still want to say it’s just an excuse and TN recruits itself. That’s BS.
