Class Ranking Prediction

We've been a perennial loser or also ran for the last 15 years. We've had less than glowing national publicity during that stretch and caught some pretty bad headlines. Even so we're recruiting regularly in the top 20. If CJP and company can beat a couple of top 10 teams and scare the bejesus out of a few more the recruits will come. If we can compete with these three and four star guys we're getting then the four and fives will come. GBO

I believe we'll finish around 16 or 17 this year.

From last year's players I will take a lower Pruitt class over a over ranked Butch class where half will make it at best. Pruitt and staff do alot more homework and the number of players you can sign has changed.
Just a reminder that we got smoked by our Top 3 rivals. How is their recruiting going?

Pruitts 1st full recruiting class were true freshmen this year, clown.
Understood. And this years class is barely inside the top 20. How about UGA, UF, and Bama? You know the part of my comment you completely ignored?

How about they have been top 10 teams for the last decade while we have been crap, and so we need a coach who can bring in top 15 talent at 1st, get us back in the game, and then take it to the next level.

Why dont you go look at other losing programs recruiting rankings, and then get back to me about how Pruitt is doing.

Oh, and by the way, he has already done step 1 and step 2. So now its time for us to get to the next level.

An elite qb and a few more pieces and we will be there in the next 2 years.

Right at 15 probably.
And I like it!

People are only seeing the recruiting aspect which isn't spectacular, but its pretty good.

We're filling key needs again with this class and adding competition not just backups.

Then the guys on our roster are getting coached up!

Adding some speed and playmaking abiltiy at WR and DB!
Thomas and Bailey young DTs to go along with Simmons.
LBs! The trio is nice

And a Blue Chip QB to push that QB room.

UT is turning into a dangerous team.

To much emphasis is put on recruiting rankings by services. Can you build a successful program with classes consistently ranked in the 10-15 range? Yes you can. Can you win national titles with classes in that range? Yes you can. There are many factors that play into building a championship program. People that want to say that Butch recruited better aren't looking at all the factors in play. What is more important? Where your class is ranked on signing day, or where that class ranks after 4 years in your program? IMO, Pruitt is building this thing the right way with identifying players with a particular mentality and work ethic. Building a program for long lasting success goes way beyond a number allotted to a class on signing day. But let's look at rankings for a minute. If we finish between 10-15 in the actual team rankings (wins and losses not recruiting) next season, would you consider Pruitt and staff to be competent coaches, or failures?

Probably about 8-9

... in the SEC.
An that won't cut it long term, no matter what type of spin we put on it. If we're to beat the teams we need to beat we need to be right there with them. We're a notch below and may remain that way.. It's the landscape right now and we're in the second group, near the back..

Our recruiting is very similar to what South Carolina was doing under Steve Spurrier after about 3 years there.

Other teams add players too though, so you can't really figure out how it will end up using that thing.

Why would I worry about what other classes add? We are predicting are class only. Im not thinking about those other teams cause that wasn’t what the thread was about. We all know some other teams are gonna add players.

The thread is literally called "Class Ranking Prediction" which requires consideration of where we would end up ranking among other classes.

Ok sherlock, well wake me up when we finish 6th, or even in the top 10

And while youre at it why dont you just add the rest of the players we arent getting and let me know where that will put us

You ain’t got a ga damn clue who we are getting or aren’t getting. So stfu and go
Chase some coons. The whole thread is hyperbole for the most part, so you getting worked up about what I’m saying in here only shows how stupid you are,
And that you don’t read ish before posting.

Key effing word. Where WE would end up, not anyone else or who they would add.
By necessity, figuring out where WE would end up requires considering where others will end up, it's the only way you can rank teams. You are thinking "final point total prediction" that does not require consideration of other teams, but ranking teams does.

Lol...there isnt one person on the planet earth who thinks we are gonna finish 6th, except you of course. But im not sure youre even human right now.

What exactly are you in the inside of, any damn way?

15-18

Stars don't matter on a GIVEN player, but they do matter in the aggregate and cumulatively. If your classes are consistently a star or so below your opponents, you will find yourself a notch below them talent-wise over time.

I suspect the ESD will be pretty predictable, with the surprises (good and bad) coming in February.

13-17 range I’d bet the house on it. Also I wanna see who’s left for the 2nd signing period that’ll get interesting

Listen, I am not one to defend Butch, and you can certainly ridicule the number of players that actually contributed, but what you cannot disregard were consistently high recruiting classes.

Now I realize BECAUSE of Butch, some of these recruits just aren’t convinced Tennessee can right the ship. But part of the Pruitt lore, and much of the rationale for Martin to rejoin the program, was their ability to recruit. Well where are the results? We will need to close extremely strong to even sniff the Top 10. Meanwhile, that cuck in Gainesville is flipping players from us.

Get a like for "cuck in Gainesville" lol

Dan is a poor recruiter. Just as one example, UF’s class is higher ranked than ours but look at how many DBs are in that class. A recruiting class needs to address needs.... I like our class (and potential class) better than UF’s due to it addressing across the board needs..

It seems to be a popular refrain here to question the number of DB’s committed to Florida right now. The number is 7 (if you look at the list it will show 8 because Finley Graham is listed as a DB. He will not be a DB at UF, he’s a punt/kick returner and may play a little slot WR eventually - think Brandon James from several years ago).

To criticize 7 DB’s committed shows a lack of knowledge about UF’s current roster and DB depth. This is a huge position of need for UF. Florida only has 3 experienced CB’s/NB’s returning; Marco Wilson, Kaiir Elam and Tray Dean. That may become 2 if Wilson goes pro and that’s 50/50 right now.

Safety isn’t much better. UF returns 3 experienced Safeties; Brad Stewart, Donovan Stiner and Shawn Davis. Stewart is on his last chance in terms of discipline, already been suspended twice. Davis also may go pro. That would leave 1 safety returning with experience.

So low numbers returning combined with the fact that UF coaches were not happy with the secondary play this year particularly at safety and nickel. These areas were far from elite.

Florida did have two promising CB’s redshirt this year who will help the depth situation; Jaydon Hill and Chester Kimbrough.

So in general, the entire secondary is a huge position of need in terms of numbers of bodies and the need for a talent upgrade. This is why any Gator fan with knowledge of the roster is pleased that Mullen is loading up in this area. Considering most teams constantly have 5-6 DB’s on the field these days, signing 7 doesn’t seem out of proportion at all.

Overall, this recruiting cycle for Mullen has been outstanding. I expect every position to be more than adequately filled on Wednesday except RB. That will be a spot they try and sure-up by the February signing date, plus maybe 1 more WR. Mullen has a great shot at a top 5 class which will go a long way in destroying this “he can’t recruit” narrative.

I expect a good close for UT as well. I agree with most here who think UT will finish between 12-15. Washington and Jospeh will be the two who can really swing some positive momentum UT’s way.
