Classless Punk

Dooley was a not only a bad coach, but a jerk.

Not what most of his players have said. Do you have direct, first hand proof or is it just convenient to what you want to believe?

Hood is ready to have Dooley canonized.

Dooley is a frank and honest guy. Pretty refreshing after Fulmer. Being honest about a guy not playing well is NOT throwing them under the bus. Saying honestly that a guy made a mistake is NOT throwing them under the bus. Honestly, if he had been as critical and as much of a "jerk" as he should have been concerning many on this team... he might still be employed.

Dooley's two biggest mistakes this year were not benching Bray much earlier and not taking over the D. Maybe Worley does no better. Maybe he can't coach better than Sal (though that's pretty hard to believe)... but at least he would have given it a shot.

I still believe in Tyler Bray.

I believe he's one of the most talented QB's the SEC has seen in a long time. I believe he needs to ride the pine next year unless he somehow learns to deal with pressure.

Just wanted to re-post this story.

I'm honestly embarrassed for some of you Vol fans with the comments you are making towards a kid. Do I agree with some of his on the field antics? Of course not. Does he deserve to be scrutinized? Yes. He's a D1 athlete at The University of Tennessee.

But to call him a "classless punk" and other ridiculous things I've read on here is uncalled for. Some of you have serious issues.

If you would listen to his interview after the Vandy game you would notice he is owning up to his poor play. He didn't hide behind the fact or make excuses.

Tyler Bray post Vandy

"I wasn't playing too good, everyone could see that. I wasn't moving the ball. Wasn't getting anything done."

"No one ever wants to come out of the game."

"I just told the defense the offense needed you tonight."

For what it's worth, I support you Tyler Bray. VFL.

Thank you! That is why I'm a tennessee fan,DD fan! He has great character ,and would have had the best graduation rate of any vol coach, and I really believe if he had been given time would have built a very tough winning program with lots of morals and integrity!

Wonder how many of them would walk up to Bray and actually tell him?

I doubt a single one of the people who complain about the UT players would have the guts to go up to them and say anything much less anything negative. They hide behind their poster names. they are the classless punks

I don't know Bray personally. I want nothing but the best for him regardless of whether he returns or not.

He has simply established a long pattern of choking under pressure. I hope he can resolve it... but it along with Sal's D just got UT its 4 coach in less than 5 years.

I know/knew Heath Shuler personally. Great guy. Grandma was a great, great Christian lady. Some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

But Heath wasn't making it in the NFL even before his injury. He had physical skills. He isn't a dumb guy. But something just wasn't working. Maybe if he hadn't messed up his foot he could have developed like Kerry Collins.

Bray is fun to watch many times. He may be a great guy. But he's not the guy you want to give the ball to in Athens down by 7 in the 4th qtr... or with Bama, UF, or Vandy bringing blitzes from every angle... or at MSU/USCe with the game on the line... or UNC with a bowl win on the line.

He's had the same number of opportunities to be the difference in a "big win" as Dooley had. Both failed. One has been fired. Maybe Bray can turn the corner... but I fear he won't get there at UT based on the last 3 years.

As far as I know, Dooley always conducted himself with class. People (I am pretty sure including you) blamed everything on him. Did/does he deserve better?

Dooley got himself fired. He was the head coach. There was a reason he made the highest salary. If he felt Tyler was a choker, he should have benched him before the second to last game of the season. If he saw Tyler as a risk and didn't bench him sooner, that would be poor coaching, would it not?

Same logic applies with Sal. Dooley was Sal's boss. If he didn't like what he saw, he should have gotten involved sooner. The truth is Dooley sat back and let things happen instead of working to make things happen. He wasn't a victim, he was a poor coach.

The head coach always gets the blame. Being a poor coach has nothing to do with class. It doesn't make him a bad person. I'm not a great cook, but it has nothing to do with whether I conduct myself with class, nor does it mean I'm a bad person. It just means I'm a bad cook. Dooley's a bad coach, or at least a bad head coach of an SEC team.

Best of luck to him in whatever he decides to do, but I'm glad he's no longer UT's head coach.

I heard he took off his jersey, tossed it to a kid along with a Coke...or maybe that was an ad I once saw...

So you admit Dooley was a poor coach? I'm pretty sure Hart fired him for being a poor coach, not for any personal reasons. I don't hate Dooley, but I hated his coaching. Maybe it's just me, but I can separate the person from their job performance. His job performance was poor, and, as such, he lost his job. I have no problem with that.

As for the D, Sal deserves a lot of the blame as DC, but not all the blame is on his shoulders. He was trying to run a D he didn't have the personnel for, but it was a D that both he and Dooley wanted to install here. Dooley wouldn't have done any better himself because he can't create players out of thin air capable of running a 3-4. The d-line doesn't have enough depth, the lbs aren't fast enough, and our secondary is just bad.

The jersey part is true, but afterward, he threw an empty beer bottle at the kid.

Sorry, I had to.

I think the defense choked and I put that on Dooley and Sal's shoulders. I remember hearing Madden say one time that the Offenses job was to score 21. I think in today's game they have raised it to 28. Bray did his job. You can't put it on his shoulders. Could he have won a some of the close games?? Yes, but should we have even been in those position?? No, with the points we put up this yr Worley should have been in by the 4th qtr. Bray shouldn't have to score on every possession.:good!:

Actually he is not the guy I want to give the ball to when we need to beat the commode doors or Kensucky, either.

Never had a problem with him, I think that most of his "issues" have been from lack of quality coaching. If we get a great coach in this year and Tyler stays for his senior season, I think he could drastically improve his draft status.

My wife is a huge MS State fan who has access to season tickets every year. She got the opportunity to take my 4 year old son, who is a huge Tennessee fan, to the Tennessee v MS State game in Starkville. On the way from Birmingham to Starkville they stopped by the hotel where Tennessee was staying in Columbus MS where we are from. She was wearing her maroon and my son was wearing orange. They got the opportunity to meet several football players and get their picture made with them, including Tyler Bray. My wife said that he was fantastic with my son, who was more than a little intimidated by the presence of his favorite players. She said that Bray was polite and very accommodating in spite of the fact that she was clad in maroon. He was very excited to see her and my son going to the game and enjoying their time together.

He is a good kid who has to put up with a silly fanbase and he has handled about as you would expect anyone too. I hate what has happened to the University and to this fan base. It is simply mind blowing the amount of nastiness and hate that is heaped on these guys.

We as a fanbase are so lucky that we get to sit in our offices and succeed or fail without millions of people watching our every move, interpreting our body language, guessing our thoughts or actions. That we don't have to sit and watch everyone that has influenced our lives get fired and forced to move, relocating families, saying goodbye to friends, worry about the impact it will have on their loved ones, is a blessing.

I understand that everyone associated with the football program made the decision to be there, to be in the spotlight, but it is still a sad state of affairs when reflect on the state of the program and realize that the real problems lie far deeper than wins and losses. I used to get upset watching Tennessee football, watching them struggle, lose, get embarrassed. But I stopped because I want my son to enjoy watching them with me, win or lose. I want him to understand that we are Tennessee fans no matter what. And that we never ever ever cheer for alabama or notre dame, ever. Its a good time for him to be a tennessee fan. Tennessee can't get much lower then where they are now, so he will get to be a part of the amazing rise from the ashes. He will learn to relish in every win and every upset. He won't be the fans that we are today, where even when we win, we are upset, and when we lose, the sky is falling.

Bray, Hunter, and Patterson are all really special players, yet Tennessee fans can't enjoy that. They have to hate on them because we lose.
