Classy morals

If DD is let go ( which I'm certain he will be) I hope that vol nation will give him a big shout of thank yous, he has done a lot of good for Big orange football! I have been a UT fan for years, and can remember how majors was let go, was very sad, then Phillip! Now we have got another coach that put his heart and soul into our football program, we need to show respect! The man and his family have done enough to get my respect, hopefully you feel the same! He is one helluva good man with a great work ethic and deserves to be respected! With a few of the refs calls not been horrible I truly. Feel he would be in office!

He will get 5 million thank you's on his way out.

Sorry, but not much thanks for having the worst coaching record in the history of UT football since it began for coaches who have coached three or more years. This has been the worst reign in the history of the Volunteers.

If/when Dooley is removed, there will be two groups:

-Those that show their class
-Those that show their ass

Both will be evident. It is a personal choice. I know what my choice will be.

I think 5 million dollars is thanks enough. Bone head game management, bone head comments and general attitude. Derek Dooleys time at Tennessee is going to be remembered as one of the darkest times in Tennessee history, you go ahead and thank him.

Im sure you think last place deserves a trophy for effort.

I think you mean Kiffins

I would just like him take the $5m and go silently into the night. I do not think a damn parade is warranted for a coach not good at football and 12th in the SEC in recruiting in year 3. What do we thank him for, not being arrested? Not getting caught cheating on his wife?

I will not show my ass but will do a happy dance to myself the day it is made official.

He will be the first coach in UT history to coach at least 3 seasons that will finish with an overall losing record. You have to go back to the early 1900's to find a performance to even compare it to. I will thank him, but mainly for leaving with class since that is his only coach type attribute.

The chance of people showing any appreciation to him would go up if he was officially let go. As long as there is the appearance of him having a chance to be back the fans are going to be angry.

for all the good he has done,it's hard to not see the bad also. He ran off past Vols because they didn't call ahead. why? He has thrown assistants and players under the bus in front of the media. He continues to blame "not the right fit" for defense .He waited till game 10 to focus on Defense. He continues to tell the media he didn't have confidence in our offense with 32 sec and 2 time outs. Wasted Time outs, continues to panic on 3rd down instead of just going after the first down, admitted to calling some of the long pass plays on 3rd and short.Recruiting is horrible. Going for size and not speed on defense in one of the fastest conferences in football. Assistants are not fond of him. Signed 19 DB's and Coleman is his best? Been out coaches by Akron ,Kentucky..etc. Still has players not lining up correct. played 2 snaps at Georgia with 9 players . This is not the sign of a well coached team. He is paid big money to be a Coach.

You don't miss a chance to get a dig in regardless of the intent of the post. Grow up and be a decent human being. You don't have to kick everyone when they are down.

i understand the sentiment. i do. but, that's what the paycheck is for.

if he is fired, he will make more money the next two years doing nothing than i will in my lifetime. i am not envious of that. the point is he doesn't deserve any sympathy or someone to lift his spirits.

he's been compensated plenty for absolutely no achievement. a "thank you" is not required, unless he'd like to return the check.

and I don't get the fans like the OP who always mention class, morality, etc when referring to a damn football coach. The man failed with a capital F. I say take the damn 5 million and don't let the door hit you in the arse. The mention of class and morality is like we are treating him like a battered spouse when in reality the University and fans have been battered for 3 years. We are not the one with an inferiority complex.

The change to 3-4 was his down fall. He would have done just fine with lance thompson or kevin steele

Correct.

It is easy to make a list of the "bad."

Since this thread is about all of the "good," let's see a list of it.

You obviousy don't own a business or are in higher management in your employment?

Here is a bosses or someone that leads statement:

Coach, We pay you over 2 million a year, Do you feel you have earned this money. Well sir, as we do admire your hard work, endless nights and your dedication to building young men and players, the results are not there. I believe we will have to let you go and start towards a different direction. I do believe you have secured a great foundation but Our fans are our customers and they clearly don't like the product on the field. May God Bless you and your family on your next adventure.

This is how I would fire him...........and sir..........this is really how most CEO's do it. At least the one's with integrity. You give respect while talking about failures. And this guys is what us older men say about growing up.

PS: stop being a generation of I want it KNOW. Great things are built carefully.

Flame away!

It's 'now' but whatever. And I'm actually a buisness owner. And right now, I'm not in Hart's office, I'm on a message board and I'm a fan. I don't have to be politicly correct here. I can say what and how I feel. And if one of my employees performed like Dooley he/she would have been fired Sunday, after the Florida game. I tell people the truth and with frankness, as I expect people to act with me. You can take your bush league business formality and stick it.

Dooley is being paid well to leave. He has brought this program to a historical all time low in many ways, not just losses. Is he a good man, I don't know him. He is s good orator and that comes with being a trained attorney. So as to talk about refs being responsible for his position that's crap. The refs didn't loose the most SEC games in any three year history of Tennessee. They didn't cause him to lose to Ky, our first loss in thirty years. They didn't ask him not to pay attention to a troubled defense, who gave up historical yardage, the most in the programs history. Or to ignore the horrible kicking game for three years running. So he worked on the offense, which looked good when facing below average competition. But still he wouldn't use them to win a game when needed. In short, I have very little respect for the man who has taken this program to a level below Vanderbilt including in recruiting. So while he may have a good work ethic, he certainly doesn't have a smart one. Work smarter gets more done than just blindly working harder. So pay the man get him out of here

General Neyland fired Harvey Robinson after two years on the job. I suspect you wouldn't have told him to grow up and gain perspective.

True leaders understand the difference between success and failure and act to remove the sources of failure.

Neyland would've sent Dooley packing after the Kentucky game. It doesn't take 5 years to identify a man who can't handle the position assigned him.

This post was mostly about what a good man he is not necessarily what a good coach he is he's done a lot of good things for UT

Childish immature haters will always be haters and that will never change because it's just who they are.

Haters will always hate no matter what because hating is the only thing they do well.

It's pathetic and sad but it's what these type of people freely CHOOSE to be and they enjoy being haters.

Sadly, most will remain this type of person all their lives because early on they chose this lifestyle and have fallen into a pattern and attitude that most will remain too weak to change for the better.

They CHOOSE to never even look for any good in any person or situation and to always look for the negative things so they can hate on it more and more in a never ending childish, hateful rant and they actually enjoy it.

Most will never become happy or successful in business or in their personal lives so they'll hate even more and will hate the most on good, decent, hard working people that are happy and successful because they chose to find good and positive things and to work hard at building a positive happy life for themselves and that just makes the haters jealous which builds more hate in them.

It's the difference in the positive minded and the negative minded and we all know which type of people find more happiness and success in their lives.

Psychiatrists have studied and worked with this type of people for many decades and the positive minded, successful people have written numerous books and taught numerous seminars on this subject but just STOP trying to help these negative minded haters because they CHOOSE to live this way and will never read a book, attend a seminar or do anything positive for their own lives because the pattern was set by themselves early on and we all know that making good, positive changes in our lives is a very hard thing to do after we've set ourselves into really bad habits like smoking, drinking, drugs or nonstop hating and being abusive.

It's very sad indeed but people will choose to become and live how they want to live.

CDD has done some good things and helped rebuild our program the best he can and I'll say THANK YOU to him and his family for coming to K town to try and make things better for our kids, our program and we fans.

He tried the best he could and it didn't work in the time that was given to him.

He may have found success if given more time but none of us know that for certain because this is the instant gratification age where everyone wants everything right now.

Years from now CDD may build another program into a National Championship winning team or he may always be a middle of the road coach but nobody here knows for certain which it will be.

If he wins a crystal football with another program we'll all feel really stupid for not giving him more time and if he's always a middle of the road coach we'll all be glad he went elsewhere and only time will tell the rest of the story.

CDD was a Millionaire before he even got to La. Tech so money isn't why he chose to coach...He loves football and trying to help young high school kids become great football players and to try and teach and mold them into also becoming great men on or off of the field.

I wish him and his family all the best in the future and I thank him for his time and efforts to attempt to make my beloved Vols football program better as a program than what it was when he first walked in the door.

At least we don't have any NCAA investigations going on like we had when CDD got here.

VFL...GBO!!!
