Classy morals

Dooley is a good guy. He has integrity. He may some day become a good HC.

He took on a program with problems so severe that it may have been too big for anyone and was certainly too big for him. He is not ready to coach against the SEC and may never be ready.

However he did some necessary "bleeding" that someone was going to have to do. He suffered through two seasons with killer schedules with MAC level talent and FCS level depth. He hands off a program in much better shape than the one he inherited. For that he deserves thanks.

Dooley will never get a significant head coaching job again.

A general comment that I read from another poster that is highly interesting.

With his steadfast character and legal training, Dooley would make an excellent AD. Rather than terminate Dooley and severe ties with UT, move him into a AD role and being in a highly proven coach.

No, just no. Get his sorry ass away from UT ASAP.

Has Coach Dooley made more than a few mistakes? Yup.

Has he been in over his head? Probably.

Does UT need to make a head coaching change? Yup.

Does DD deserve to be treated like Lane Kiffin? Nope.

He gave honest effort and did so within the famework of NCAA rules at a time when the program was at rock bottom. It didn't work out and he should be allowed to leave with dignity.

I think you're right.

Who would hire him? No major program will consider him, and why would even a La Tech-level school hire Dooley over some hotshot young coordinator with an upside?

I actually think this is probably the end of his coaching career altogether, unless one of his Saban buddies takes pity on him and offers him a job coaching tight ends or something. I think he tries to go the AD route full-time after this.

Has Coach Dooley made more than a few mistakes? Yup. A few? Really? Haha

Has he been in over his head? Probably. Probably? Double haha

Does DD deserve to be treated like Lane Kiffin? Nope. No one is.

You mean like the dignity he's shown our former players? The sooner he's gone the better.

I really don't care what happens to him as long as he's out of UT's hair.

Its just crazy that everything that was 50/50 on going good or bad went bad while he was here. I mean everything. From the LSU game to the Missouri recently. I am 24 now so in the 90s I was really too young to enjoy the Vols being on top. Since I have been going to games the best thing that has really happened would be Eric Berry. I have watched us lose all the big games, and been there getting excited about barely getting past Vandy. Its time to move on. Do whatever is needed to get a big name coach in here. The fans deserve to finally see some success.

If DD is let go ( which I'm certain he will be) I hope that vol nation will give him a big shout of thank yous, he has done a lot of good for Big orange football! I have been a UT fan for years, and can remember how majors was let go, was very sad, then Phillip! Now we have got another coach that put his heart and soul into our football program, we need to show respect! The man and his family have done enough to get my respect, hopefully you feel the same! He is one helluva good man with a great work ethic and deserves to be respected! With a few of the refs calls not been horrible I truly. Feel he would be in office!

FIVE FREAKIN MILLION DOLLARS aint enough!!! I gotta thank Goober Pyle for setting records in SEC losses??

You sir can bite my big toe!!

If you are so knowledgable about coaching then why are you not a college football coach instead of coming on here and whining the way you do?
The same reason you only come here to praise Dooley. It's a Forum and we have opinions ,but if you don't agree you start attacking.

We can't trust him to beat UK or Mizzou, but you want to trust him to hire our next football coach???

Unbelievably stupid, sir..

in all fairness i think all the former players that wouldnt have had a coach if dooley wouldnt have stepped in should be able to line up on his way out and give him a big kick in the a$$ for sucking the last 3 years :)

I got nothing to add here, but does anybody else remember the girl that used to dance at the Vu in Memphis that called herself Classy Morals??? Lol, if our defense gave half the effort she did, we'd be no worse than second in the East

Here's the only problem I have with saying that Dooley is a terrible coach and will never be successful: He's been a head coach for a grand total of 6 years. Split up between two different schools which were at the bottom of the bottom when he took over. I listened to an interview where I heard Dooley say he was even surprised at just how bad it was (roster wise) when he actually had to start piecing UT back together. He knew it was bad, but not THAT bad. I really hope that being canned at UT doesn't completely end his career as a coach...He obviously has a passion for it. I mean, who would leave a cushy and constant lifestyle for coaching if they didn't love it? He's still young has a lot of room for improvement (A LOT of room) and I think he could do well, given the chance. I wanted him to succeed, but going to the SEC where the margin of error is ZERO was probably a decision made too soon in his career.

I've said time and again. Some on here are fans of DD over the team. They blame everything and everyone except him. It's always the fault of "the calls", former coaches, players, asst coaches, the media or the fans. It's never Dooley's fault. Do to their worship like love of him they can't see how much of a failure and ass he really is. It's almost cult like.

I'm not going to defend or bash Dooley but, how many of these moral high horse threads do we need? People are going to do and say what they want to.

Also, How does anybody know how great of a guy Dooley is or isn't. Hell, I've never met the guy.
