Clay Travis matching NIL

Yeah he’s not a reporter or “journalist” of integrity (not much of a fan of his either). But is anyone in this day and age where the speed with which you report/tweet means more than the accuracy of the facts or the thoughtfulness of the commentary?

Hopefully we can make him follow through on that $100k bet he just made!
It was before Twitter when he was doing it.

I dont mind being investigated. I welcome it. If we are cheating bad enough to warrant an investigation then we deserve it, BUT when you have a corrupt organization (NCAA) refusing to Investigate their cash cows (bama, uga, ohio state) and clearly taking "advice and tips" from said teams to investigate their rivals, thats where i draw the line. If you are going to have a governing system it needs to be fair and free of corruption.
Yeah the focus on Tennessee and lack of focus on those schools you mentioned is simply bewildering.

Clay Travis is an idiot. And if anyone thinks that the way college football should evolve is for UT and everyone else to engage in bidding
wars for high-school prospects, they're crazy. There are large numbers of charitable organizations that are far more deserving of money. A bunch of crazy schools and their crazy fans trying to outspend one another for players. Yea, makes a LOT of sense. Ya'll go for it. Send the collective your
kid's lunch money.

I chuckle at all the vitriol for the NCAA. It's so parochial--everybody getting their backs up because it DARES to investigate their team. How dare they! Every sport needs and has rules, and somebody has to enforce them. It's a tough task--nearly impossible, especially now--but all of your who want to be indignant about the NCAA do put forth your ideas about how college football should be governed.
I have read your missives on this subject. Your efforts seem, at best, condescending, efite, wrapt in an ancient belief system that cannot exist in todays environment and elitist. In other words, keeping it short, Bite Me!

It’s amazing that a man does something positive and donates a ton of money to UT, and people decide to post their personal negative opinion about him. For zero reason.

You haters out there, it’s like if a journalist writes an article on Peyton and each time he writes an article on Peyton, he brings up the locker room mooning incident. You would be pissed because the personal agenda and hatred of the journalist towards Peyton is unnecessary and petty.

This is what you haters are doing to Clay. Zero reason to say why you hate him or label him something negative when he is doing something positive.

Also… I guarantee you don’t know Clay either because he is a fantastic person.

Bidding wars for high school recruits have been happening in college athletics for decades.

You can't even spell, Earl. I you wish to outline your thoughts on the issues roiling college football, go ahead. I doubt you're up for it.

Who's to say they aren't being investigated? We just got leaked
I think it’s fair to say they are focusing on us.

We got burned for impermissible benes and the investigation started based on a recruit that signed with uga (which to our knowledge was never investigated - maybe because a uga administrator is chairman of the ncaa? Seems like a conflict of interest to me at the very least). Meanwhile a very public case of what sounds like lack of institutional control on ugas part, at least to me, of which led to the death of a student athlete, to our knowledge has been left alone to be handled by uga without ncaa investigation. Other cases of more blatant cases of what they are accusing/investigating us for have gone uninvestigated or unleaked if there was or would be an investigation.

My instinct is that the NCAA saw us as vulnerable as we lick our wounds, or sees us as an easy target given our recent history of being willing to cooperate and aid their investigative and enforcement efforts. Either way, I think it’s very fair to say the NCAA has been targeting us, likely for a variety of reasons that I’m sure will never be “leaked.” I for one am glad we are standing up to them and pushing back.

A few schools have certainly done it. Most haven't. And those that did were sometimes caught and rightly penalized--sometimes severely.

Clay Travis - politically im cool with him.
I think its great he is donating and matching funds.
He was hard to like when was on Nashville radio, seem to be negative toward vols a lot.
He actually got me so mad one time I sent an e-mail to mrs grissom"s (program sponsor) that I am gonna boycott them...lol.
I ate a lot of pimento cheese back then... : )
Saw him at the Bammer/vols game in 22.
He's a vol.. but i wasn't interested in hanging out with him yet. But this has made a positive impression for me about him.
Go Vols!

Shout out Mrs. Grissom’s 😆 I loved it on celery sticks.. ‘Mrs Grissoms, Mrs. Grissoms.. makes your salad taste so fine.. it’s delicious and divine’ 💃 you couldn’t live near Nashville back in the day and not hear that song everywhere 😂

From what I remember, and I'm confident I'll be corrected if I'm wrong here but, CT was negative towards UTK administration and athletics at a point in time when UTK was not being run very well in many aspects and his criticism stung those supporting the university.

However, just because you support the university doesn't mean his criticism wasn't fair.

He's a big UT fan but he didn't agree with how things were being done at the time, he had a platform and was vocal about it.

The atmosphere around UTK is much improved overall and CT is raining praise, support and $$ around the university.

Go Vols!
