Clay Travis: Vandy has as many bowl wins in past 2 seasons as UT had in the past 12.

What bowls though? What quality bowls? Vandy also has two total wins against UT in their history. What's his point? Vandy isn't a good team. They are "okay" and much improved. But they also have an all American receiver. Without Matthews, this team would have 3/4 wins. That's the truth.

I bet a month's pay they were higher quality bowls than the ones we have played in any of the last 4-5 years.

Alot of teams would be worse then they currenly are without one or two key players...see aTm next year...

Yeah big wins over NCSU (a team Dooley beat the same year) and Houston.....very impressive.

Vanderbilt now has as many bowl wins in the past two seasons as Tennessee's had in the past 12.

Vandy is now 16-4 in its last 20 games. Only Alabama at 17-3 has a better SEC record over past 20 games.

Why on earth is this relevant to this board? I don't get it.

Because it's Vandy/Franklin.

You could start a thread titled "Franklin" and it would stay on the front page until the end of time...provided a MOD didn't move it.

Hey...tell you what...lets look at more than twenty games...how about in the last twenty years? All Vandy has to be proud of is TWENTY games....how many SEC championships and National Championships do they hold? Yep...crickets....lol VFL!!!!

We would not have won nine games with their schedule. They beat us in back to back seasons. If we beat them none of these threads or arguments exist. When was the last time we beat UGA and UF in the same year? Are they a real rival and threat to our future? No, but they did what they did.

We wouldn't have 9 wins with their schedule? Would we have beaten UMASS and Presbyterian and Wake Forest?

Would they have won 9 games with our schedule? Consider Oregon, Auburn and Alabama? Consider the state of UGA and how different a team that was from when we played them until when Vandy played them.

If you want to speculate, try this: Vandy didn't beat UGA and UF, they beat teams who wore that uniform, but they didn't beat them. They beat their shadow, teams that were decimated by injury. If UGA is healthy, does Vandy beat them. Probably not.

Consider the speculation of "what if" Worley didn't go out for the season...would UT still have lost to Vandy by 4 points? Probably not.

The point being that the statement that we wouldn't have won 9 games with their schedule is as pointless as saying that they wouldn't have won 9 with ours.

They absolutely beat UT two years in a row. good point, one that I am certain noone here has considered. Counter point: Franklin is 1-1 against Dooley and 1-1 against Jones. He just happened to back up the two wins next to each other, one win against the worst coach in UT history going out, the next is a coach coming in and setting up a new system.

Someone on VolNation responded to one of my posts a couple months ago with the simple comment that "Clay is a UT fan". Does that tweet look like anything a UT fan would post on Twitter when discussing vanderbilt?

Maybe...if the intent is to fire up the Vols to do better, perhaps. Which is not that far fetched.

You have program history/heritage...then you have current state...be it 5 years, ten years, 20 years. You draw recruits and power based on your current staff and their talent to run the program and build it for the near future. Back in the day University of the South was a major football power. I'm as big a UT fan as anyone else, but alot of these arguments barely qualify as eloquent speaking. When was UT's last NC prior to 1998? Since? Not being UT does not render irrelevance.

That's all you got? There are probably a lot of posters on here that don't remember the last time UT went to a BCS bowl.

In their entire History, tell me how many bowls have they been to? Is that better? Or better yet, tell me how many SEC championships they have? Or placed first in the East?
