Clean, Ole Fashioned Hate: Georgia Tech (7-4) vs #7 Georgia (9-2) (7:30PM ET, ABC)

Not being persnickety at all so don’t take it that way. But tell me how losing to a 7-4, unranked team doesn’t matter regardless of the SEC champ game. If this is true then conference championship attendees should just rest starters if they are “in” going into the last game, right ?

How does 9-3 get them in over other 10-2 teams in the hunt ?
Because if they win in ATL they’ll still be one of the 5 highest ranked conference champs so they’d be guaranteed a spot. And as much as every game should matter in terms of wins and losses, I have 0 doubt UGA is one of the 12 best teams even at 10-3. If they win in ATL they would have played Clemson, Bama, UT, Texas, OM, GT and TX or AM while going 4-3 against them. There’s not 12 other teams who would’ve fared better than that; there’s likely 2-3. Clemson has a shot to win the ACC and UGA beat them by 31. UGA is 12-0 playing in the ACC or Big12 as are about 5 other SEC teams.

Georgia’s ranking wouldn’t matter because they’d be the #2 or #3 seed. I’d expect us to be the #7 or #8 seed, depending on what else happens.
The only thing that would be a shock is if Georgia lost this game, won the SEC championship and ended up ranked behind the other 4 auto bids.

Beck just acts like this game is an annoyance and delaying more important business. Absolutely no heart or want to be there. I hope GT blows it up. Go Tech!

If they lose tonight, they should take their rightful place at a lower ranking for the week like everyone else. I know they won't let them drop out, but this is no different than Alabama. They should earn their way back in through the championship game. Plenty of other teams deserving of a spot.

They will drop that is for sure. The question would be how much? If they drop enough and the ultimate Big 12 champ ends up above them - they would still get in but may not get a bye.

So someone tell me SEC rankings in CFP if UGA losses tonight, AM beats Texas tomorrow, Tennessee wins tomorrow and UGA beats AM in SEC Champ.

Why would you think tonight has anything to do with SEC rankings? Its a non conference game

Yeah, I don’t see any way the Big 12 or G5 champ ends up ranked ahead of the SEC champ, even if they do have 3 losses.

I was just thinking and typing the same thing. They should be glad Tulane lost.

I don't think it matters since the Big 12 is sucking ass. Even if they get the two highest ranked teams to finish 6-2, I would be shocked if a 11-2 Arizona State or Iowa State Big 12 Champ would be ranked higher than a 10-3 Georgia SEC Champ with a win in Atlanta over a Top 3 Texas

Don't think so - think they will drop considerably and be looking at a #4 seed or possibly 12 (aka last in because they are a conference champ).

They dropped A&M and Bama and Ole Miss BIG TIME. Georgia if they lose should be treated the same.

A conference champ isn’t finishing worse than 5th and the sec champ won’t be 5th.

Georgia would definitely drop tonight with a loss but if they win next week against a Top 3 Texas, they would move right back up in a big manner to atleast be ranked ahead of the Big 12 champ... Like there is no world where Georgia loses tonight, beats Texas next week, and stays ranked below an 11-2 Big 12 Champ (Iowa State or Arizona State)

There’s nothing more annoying than these women sideline announcers bringing nothing but quotes from the coaches.

Okay people, my daughter came home from NYC for Thanksgiving. She bought tix for us to go see the movie “Wicked” for tonight that starts at…10pm! Pretty close to past my bedtime, but Can’t tell my little girl no on this one. Would appreciate the continued updates, ‘cause I’ll be checking in during the movie.

I checked Bama, A&M and Ole Miss dropped 5 and 6 positions. If they treat Georgia the same - UGA drops to 12 or 13.

But I am not getting my hopes up - Georgia has a history of coming back.

Really? is it? I find it completely believable that Tennessee lost to Georgia in the 10th game of the season giving up 20 points for the first time while being sandwiched around losses to Ole Miss and Georgia Tech lol
Well, to use his own example: Champ Bailey. He led the team in receptions and receiving touchdowns and was a defensive All American and finalist for the Nagurski award. He was not just on offense for “special packages”. Chris Gamble and Myles Jack are a couple of others I can think of. I’d guess there are more than ten and fewer than fifty, but the number is definitely greater than his claimed zero.

You are assuming Texas beats A&M. If Georgia loses, they need for that to happen, because a win over A&M would not be as impressive.

I need to go to bed to drive back to Nashville early tomorrow, but I’ll keep you posted as long as I can

Oh they will drop out for time being. That will give them no wiggle room in the SEC Championship game. They will have to win to get in. There is no way if Georgia loses this game that they stay inside the 12 with a third loss and it being to an ACC team at home.
