By taking away your nostalgia and political opinion. I refuse to believe if someone were to create a new team and were given the choice Indians vs Guardians, that most of you wouldn’t pick Guardians.

Guardians is a terrible name regardless. Rock would have been a good one since the Rock and Roll HOF is in Cleveland. The Fire for the river fire that ushered in the clean water act, hell damn near anything would be better than Guardians.

I don’t see a problem with Guardians other than that it’s a change from their historic name.

It’s not like other team names like Titans, Falcons, Tigers, or Bears have any particular value outside their association with a particular franchise.

Seems like a bunch of people needing their daily fix of being offended by something provided another group of people with their daily fix of needing to be offended by something.

My great grandmother was part Indian. I take offense to the notion that the word Indian is in any way offensive. The mascot could be interpreted that way, it being a caricature of an Indian but that name itself is not.

Is there some context behind the name Gaurdians for Cleveland I'm not aware of that makes it better?
