I’m curious, the article claims in 100 years this May drop our future gdp by 10%…don’t most of the left wing answers to this drop our gdp by that much or more today?

You don’t have to know much about exponential regressions to realize 10% a year for 100 years is far worse than 10% in 100 years

Electric cars are BS. This is a capitalist wet dream brought to life by people ignorant of science and how the world really works. It's pushed by people that can't imagine a world where growth is no longer our raison d'etre, and that believe things must stay as they are. No one is seriously considering changing behaviors, which means driving less, flying less and not having to have your cheap plastic crap made in China delivered next day by Amazon. What we should do, and immediately, is outlaw coal and transition to natural gas. Natural gas isn't perfect, but it emits far less CO2 than coal. About 50% less. Nuclear is clean, but the costs and availability of qualified engineers to build the plants is a bridge too far.

We need better public transportation.

And the big dirty secret about electric cars is rare metals. We have to dig really big mines (there's one as large as LA in the Congo already), and it pretty much all comes from one place. It's a really stupid plan, and not in any way environmentally sustainable.

We don't have to hurt the poor. We can help them through the transition. The bottom line is we are seriously in trouble, and unless we really want to face a serious economic and environmental collapse, we need to do something.
There's a fascinating situation developing in Utah, essentially an environmental nuclear bomb, that involves the Great Salt Lake. It could literally threaten Salt Lake City, and Republicans in Utah are in a panic over it. If it dries up, and we have strong indications it could, it could potentially unleash toxic air pollution that might require Salt Lake City to be evacuated.
This no longer some partisan matter. We have to come together as Americans in way somewhat similar to what we did in WW2.

Anything that hurts us economically will hurt the poor. There’s no way of avoiding that.

Didn't humans evolve around the equator in Africa? Seems like more weird scare tactics. Especially given more people freeze to death than die of heat related illness in the world annually.

But you're confusing "the world is getting warmer" with, "we should make people poorer today". Those are two different things. I agree with the first, the world is getting warmer. It's your solution of making everyone poorer today that I adamantly disagree with.

The issue is, if you attempt to analyze climate, say over the last 100k years, you could make this claim over and over. And obviously this is before industrialization or mankind could affect anything. Were humans evolved to survive the ice age?

The best evidence is that a warmer planet led to more vegetation, more inhabitable places and the times where the planet saw its greatest growth in evolution.

Combine that with even man’s use of fossil fuels only impacts the net amount of CO2 by mere fractions of fractions. We’re talking about 4 % of the atmosphere being affected by less than 1%.

We’ve now evolved to a place where we can actually reclaim CO2 right out of the atmosphere, but you won’t hear that mentioned as a solution.

Have we ever done something in the past and not been able to do it as efficiently in the future? There's no real reason we can't do a nuclear build out when we did it 50 years ago. The problem is unnecessarily high safety standards, burdensome regulatory structures, and a culture of paperwork over real work and change billing as lifeblood.
