Climate Change Report

Did you check out that article. In 1989 they were predicting disaster by the year 2000
I remember between 6 and 8th grade they went from teaching that we were causing global cooling to global warming.
I remember thinking “wait, I thought we were headed to the next ice age.”

If the climate has to change, heating up is by far the best option

I had to research and write a paper while at U.T. that bolstered the claim that the Earth would be completely depleted of oil reserves in about 30 years. That was around 1970.
Peak oil would make a lot of lefties happy. Ain’t happening in my lifetime if I live to 100.

Sorry, but I was taught that we would be out by now when I was at U.T...………….. So, there's that. When the gas crisis hit about 3 or 4 years later, I believed it.

I don't doubt you was taught that. And eventually it WILL run out.

But that goalpost has been moving all the time. Was dealt a big blow by the development of Fracking.

And once Comrade Cortez starts rationing it, well, that will delay its depletion considerably.

But it'll be a cold day in hell before the Chinese or Indian economies take orders from her.

Fact, at some point there will be a planet changing event (disaster). Fact, if you move the goalposts far enough, you will be right.

My mom, born in 1932, was taught 30 year oil timeline in HS. Same for me in 8th grade, mid 80s.

The 2011 CAFE standards have resulted in steadily increasing fuel economy. This isn't something Trump did. Obama's administration thought 54.5 mpg by 2025 was feasible.
Hate to agree but have to. Trump had nothing to do with this. However.m, The 54.5 is the most ridiculous oppressive ideal imposed. People have no idea how much the restrictive engine management software is costing them.

Yes, 54.5 mpg is not reasonably achievable while keeping the cost of vehicles down. Maybe it would be if the cars people wanted were Priuses, but what they really want are SUVs.

They found more. Dowsing rods were so 16th century.
They did. Technology allowed for new ways of extraction. Price increase made other methods economically viable.

Point is, Mick, 30 year depletion was the "accepted science' in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Likely a big reason us old farts are skeptical of cataclysMICK climate change predictions.

We want SUVs and Trucks which can pull a train AND get 60 mpg.
