Clinton Cites Robert Kennedy Assassination, Long Shot Democratic Candidate Points To 1968 Assassination As Reason To Continue Campaign - CBS News

(CBS/AP) Sen. Hillary Clinton referred Friday to the assassination of Robert Kennedy in 1968 Democratic campaign as a reason she should continue to campaign despite increasingly long odds.

Clinton was responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board about calls for her to drop out of the race.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don't understand it," she said, dismissing the idea of dropping out.

Oops!

I just saw this on Drudge. I think after saying something like that she should not get the nomination even if something does happen.

That should be the nail in the coffin for her. Pretty stupid thing to say.

Do you think if she loses she might make a run in the next election dividing the dem party. Personally i wouldn't put it past her.

She's done! Reading over the internet its going crazy, people are screaming for her head.

screaming at what? for what? her recollection of history? was anything she said untrue?

I don't want to ever develop the bad habit of defending a Clinton, but this is really much ado about nothing.

It might be true, but it's still incredibly poor taste.

She almost insinuated that she's going to stick in the race because some Turkish guy might run through a hotel kitchen and shoot Obama dead.

Sorry, but it's inexcusable and yet another testament to the terrible personality of that horrible shrew.

MG, forgive me for saying so if I am wrong, but I think there is a lot of transparency in terms of where your sentiments lie. You can oppose a candidate without tacitly defending junk like this.

then tell us where those sentiments lie because the transparency is more opaque for me.

Not to speak for him, but i think what AllVol is saying and if so, I agree. MG taking up for Hillary is proof of his hatred of Obama. That is why I linked THAT thread.

Also, for someone to say that making a big deal out of Hillary's comments (which several in the media and around the internet have done) is somehow streatching things after MG himself tried to turn an Obama quote into a big issue that no one even blinked at, is hypocrisy at best.

from what I've seen, MG dislikes Hillary at least as much as Obama.

I thought I saw MG wearing a "I am woman, hear me roar" shirt the other day.

Kidding, I think he dislikes both pretty much the same.

I do think he dislikes Hillary as well, but I think there are reasons (unknown to me) why he hate Barack more. It seems that way in the way that I read what he types. It's so hard to guage people's actual feelings with cold words however, which is why I never judge people based on thier internet banter.

However, I do not think there was much of anything tongue in cheek about his earlier thread. I think he was trying his best to nail Obama on something, and it just didn't work unless you're a bomb thrower for the right wing.

I'm right-wing, and Obama scares me.

I would rather have Howard Dean, Hillary Clinton, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore or John Kerry as president over Obama.

I believe Obama to be altogether unqualifed to lead the country, he's as liberal as humanly possible in our democracy, his wife and many associates appear to be blatant racists and he has no articulated policies at this point. Other than that, he's probably a likable guy.
